Lightbulb Cadillac ATS to debut at Detroit next month. Gets AWD and manual transmission

The 3 series fighter from GM is coming, and soon.

Production Cadillac ATS debuts at Detroit autoshow next month, via http://www.atsforums.com/forums/show...oit-next-month!

ATS will get AWD and manual transmission, via http://www.atsforums.com/forums/show...l-transmission

Will be interesting to see GM's latest entry in the ultra competitive sports sedan category.

Anyone think they have a shot at the F30?

In terms of sales? No, not even close. But with the F30 getting larger and taking on the burden of electronic power steering, I think that Cadillac could have a chance at actually building the better drivers car, although the presence of optional awd does sort of scare me, I'd prefer it was a rwd only design.

The ATS could be a lot better (better as in a performance car) than the F30 when it comes out, especially since BMW has gone the route of Lexus recently, appealing more to a mass market audience rather than a performance oriented one. Cadillac, ironically enough, is going the opposite direction, trying to build cars that appeal more to gear heads instead of soccer moms, although there is a CTS-V wagon.

Who would have thought this could have been a possibility 20 years ago.

AND it is going to be produced in Lansing, Michigan!! This car has promise, hope Cadillac gets it right, as I like helping to keep my neighbors employed. It is about time the domestic market came to the table with something interesting that holds my attention. The interior of the CTS-V is amazing and this keeps my expectations high for the ATS-V.

I think Cadillac is definitely taking the ATS very seriously, and really wants to steal some of BMW's "swagger" as a performance division. GM's aim with Cadillac is to appeal to a younger demographic, who would be more performance oriented and knowledgeable about the cars they drive.

The XTS shows that they're not forgetting about the older clientele. However, the ATS is showing us that Cadillac does not want to depend on them for their success.

Heck, it's just not Cadillac that's gunning for BMW, but even Lexus is getting more serious about its cars in terms of performance with the new GS.
