How many M cars have you owned?
I know a lot of you guys have had a few M cars. Curious who's had the most. Personally I've owned 3 E36 M3's and currently have an E46. I'm keeping an eye on E90 prices and will probably make the move this spring.

2 e30 M3's 2 e36 M3's 1 e46 M3 I currently own a 1989 e30 M3. Nothing else compares to these cars and I feel lucky to own a super nice example.

I had an E46 M3 for a little while before it was totaled by a drunk driver. I LOVED that car, especially the S54, but if I don't get an E60 M5 down the road as a daily, my E46 will most likely be the newest M car I'll own - I don't like the way the M ("Marketing") division is headed at all. That being said, my next car will be an E30 M3 that I will go full retard on (BBS RS, OEM Evo 2 aero, coils, built S14, etc).

Wish I had the cash for a project 318is. There's also a great S54 E30 swap thread on r3v, check it out if you haven't seen it. |

I'm usually on E30Tech but I think I've seen the thread you're talking about (there's a couple). A slicktop (no sunroof) 318iS would definitely be great but I'm getting rid of the 325iS and getting a 4-door for that sleeper/unique feel. An S54 with carbon airbox/alpha tune would be my dream swap.

A buit + possibly boosted M/S 50/52 makes much more sense i think, considering all the hard work has already been done in all the swaps that have come before. this reminds me of a custom fabricated e30 around an s85. obviously ferrari-price but I don't think it gets any better than that. |

That's the rumor, I'll have to try it for myself. I went to look at the new 911 today, it's good, definitely a bit bigger (which I hate) but the interior is very nice, and there is more usable space (bigger trunk). If anyone can get electric power steering right it would be Porsche, they dont make very many mistakes when it comes to driving dynamics.

Only 1 so far: 2002 M Coupe with the S-54 engine. Kept it almost 6 years and it was the best car I have ever had.

Agreed there moving away from what made a BMW a BMW. like going towards EPS steering which i hate. Making economy number1 and not perforamce. Giving less customization choices
