Which car to buy now ?
So I had e46 M3.....loved it, b7 A4....decent car, 2007 e92 335i...much better then A4 but no that special, now have 06 S2000 and also love the car just like I loved M3.
Now I dont want to spend ton of money, I obviously would like something nice and fun with good value. I recently regret not purchasing 06 S-type R with 35k miles for 15-16k, I also missed nice 08 Cayman S w/35k for $27-28k, kinda looking at 2010 S4s but prefer lower price.... any thoughts ? stay with s2k maybe |

Competition Package E46 M3 and supercharge it. I had an E46 M3, that was totaled, made a huge mistake by getting an E90 (I still don't know why I even bothered with it), and now I'm in the market for another E46 M3. I like it more than any BMW since.

I have a 2010 S4 and I love it but agree that the entry point is still relatively high. Personally, I would stick with the S2000 and get something else for daily duties.

Put over a hundred grand under the hood. Really I would just stick with the 2k as getting any used Cayman/Audi will require up to date maintenance if it hasn't been performed yet. If your main concern is not spend alot of money now, I would assume that you would want something that will be reliable as well and you have that in the s2k.

Also want some luxury in life with s2k its just pure sport car and pleasure to drive, not much wow factor from friends or crowd. one guy on the street asked me if I was driving some new Hyundai
Sometimes when i get behind a wheel of even e38 740i it feels nice to drive with luxury goodies, fast, relaxing.......maybe I am getting old. here is my s btw Last edited by Kolyan2k; 06-07-2013 at 03:11 PM.. |

2010 S4 WITH 40-45K MLS sold for $32k at local auction.....crazy prices.....at the same time 2007 Maserati Quatroporte with 35k miles sold for same. Love those Maseraties but its a bitch to fix I heard. If it was same as BMW/Audi in reliability/repair, for that price I would jump on that car in a sec.

my next car has got to be this new caymanS..had a chance to only SIT in it and I can tell its a far better driver's car than my e90m already lol. But by then hopefully my car becomes a track toy.

The big question is .. what do you want from a car? Will it be a second car? Do you need to carry a lot of stuff? Get good mileage? Be able to fix it yourself?

Lets just say that the perfect car for right now would be ISF, but that's too expensive for me.
At this point I am just shopping for a good value first......I don't want to buy a car, drive it for 5-10k miles and loose $5k in depreciation And now that I think about it, one of the key benefits of 2-seater is that no one asks you for a ride etc. I would probably double my miles if I had 4-door Its a stupid "shopping fever" lol, my buddy got 150k on his Civic SI and he can afford almost any car new! |

The B8 S4's really kick ass but I don't think it makes sense to cross with a S2000 or Cayman S, the audi weighs almost 4k lbs and is AWD, no where near the drivers car. Hard to value shop cars at this level, but I know S4's hold their value pretty well FWIW. And LOL at Maserati, those things depreciate like a bat out of hell, can you even imagine getting a repair done on one of those?
