Naval Yard Shooting in DC
Discuss. Rogue GI? Terror attack? Another Fort Hood crazed extremist?
Edit: I am not trying to be insensitive with this thread, just curious if other people had info other than the main stream media. Last edited by RupertPupkin; 09-16-2013 at 12:07 PM.. |

Two shooters down, according to CNN. I don't trust any media this early in a story.

The media seems to have learned, they said they are reporting information but also said it probably not accurate information so do not take anything they are saying as fact. So why bother reporting then.

On a serious note, another attack in a 'gun free zone' a base full of people with firearms training with no way to defend themselves. |

the two guys they are looking for could be first responders on the scene, they said they investigate reports from people who called and said they saw someone with a gun, ie the police who were running around in battle fatigues.
They need to stop this, police should look like police not military personal. |

We shouldn't have to have every place or area armed to feel safe. We should be able to go in a gun free zone and still feel safe. If it takes everywhere having guns present, that says a lot about how our society sucks. |

It is concerning (and telling) that the government can't protect you on a base. My biggest problem is with the 'Gun Free Zone' to me that is just a sign to scumbags that there will be 'no opposition here' |

I agree with this. First place we strike when attacking another country is to attack military installations and bases. We do it by air, others may try by ground. I think we are too comfortable and arrogant and the world isn't scared of us anymore. Not saying this was a foreign or terrorist attack, but our military in uniforms should all be armed at all times. You don't send out a uniformed battalion in Afghanistan without weapons...why leave them like sitting ducks at our own bases onside our own borders.

It's pretty funny how the headline font size grows with the story. CNN now has font size 72 on this headline.

The 12 fatalities reported include one of the shooters. Acoording to unconfrmed reports, the dead shooter is a Navy serviceman, who was either fired or "transferred" (demoted?) recently. Yet other sources claim ihe was a civilian contractor.

I just don't like the notion of arming locations( such as schools). It doesn't solve the problem. Just like banning assault rifles or limiting magazine rounds doesn't solve it. |

So just one shooter now. That would be more believable. Hard to fathom a group going nuts like this, although we did see that with Columbine. Seems the world is going mad.
