Need Opinions - Used Sedan (maybe SUV) Purchase

I am going to put my 996 TT purchase on hold and get the fiancé out of her A3 and into something bigger. I have been browsing, yet to drive, the 2007-2009 5 series as I love BMWs and the 5 series is the perfect size. She likes hatchbacks so the 5xxiT are a strong consideration. My question to you is what else should I be looking at? We are trying to stay in the $20-30k and would like to stay with a V6 or I6 for gas mileage. We are in Georgia so AWD is not necessary.

The E60 5-series honestly doesn't have that much more interior space than the E90 3-series (that definitely surprised me).

Maybe check out the facelifted (2007+) E83 X3? The quality is vastly improved and isn't too bad in legroom department.

And congrats in advance on your 996TT - I always loved that car and it is, along with the GT2, the only 996 variant I think looks good.

Q5 if you can stretch budget a bit, would be my pick in the SUV dept.
RX350 next consideration, well built, comfortable, and will last forever.

Sedan wise, really depends on your specific taste. 535LCI, TL S, new GS coming out next year...

True, but the extra space it has makes a huge difference. I went from an e90 to an e60, it is much more useable, particularly if a child seat is involved, my wife wouldnt even go in the e90 after we had the kid, we are perfectly comfortable in the 5. There is a bit more room in every direction.

Okay I can see that. When I use to use my dad's E60 M5 (), I noticed the interior space wasn't tremendously larger than the E90... but now that I think about it, the car seemed to have just a little more room in just about every area. I can see how all of those little increases can bump overall space by a good margin. That makes a lot of sense now.

I really like the look of the Q7 and this was actually going to be our next purchase, but we relocated to Georgia where AWD is not a necessity. I will definitely check out the acuras even if they do look like a transformer.
