What do you guys think of Tata winning bid for Jag/LR
This is somewhat old news at this point, but I am curious to know whether you guys think this is a positive or negative for Jag?
I can see the benefits for Tata, but I really don't see this as a positive for Jag. |

hard to say............Tata may just want the financial benefits and let the company operate as-is, or they may be hands-on and completely change the business model.

Thumbs down.
I mean i dont know anything about TATA motors. But judging from there complete lack of luxury cars im not so sure i trust them with a brand like Jaguar, which is in major need of reinventing itself. Im not so sure being owned by an Indian company named tata will help there lacking brand prestige. However if they just leave them alone and let jaguar be jaguar. It might be a good deal. As someone stated i wish Prodrive bought jag too. Let the English handle there two top cars. |

Indians don't know how to make cars. Plain and simple.
They've used the Hindustan international for like the last 55 years because they haven't figured out how to build a better car... and because quite frankly you'd have to be insane to want to purchase a new car and drive it on the Indian streets. Its much more like bumper cars than normal US driving. I believe the arrangement has most of the actual engineering happening in the UK. |

To me, the purchase makes perfect sense - as an Indian manufacturer, they will get a leg up on sales (import taxes and local nationalism at work) within India, which is one of the fastest growing automotive markets in the world, luxury sales included. I don't see it as a negative, as long as the R&D and the management of the brand remains in the hands of the British. They've done a great job with Jaguar in the past few years, IMO, and look to have a bright future ahead. |

If reviews, build quality, looks, exclusiveness, and sales mean anything to any of you, then TATA calling the shots on Jag is the best that ever happened to the company and consumers. |

So far Tata ownership of JLR has been positive, production is increasing, new models are rolling out the factory doors in greater numbers than before, all said and done Tata have been much better custodians of the JLR brands than Ford and BMW ever were.

tata cars are crap. I have owned a few and trust me that day warranty is over, bearing in ac compressor, hubs, gearbox etc etc gonna get shot, interior trim starts falling like meteors, you will collect couple of screws in the cabin every month and they can break down anytime. Such a shame.
Tata cars = I'll pass. |
