Any beer connoisseurs here?

Anyone like beer here?

Where I live we have a pretty decent small local brewery that puts out some pretty good stuff

It is called Boulevard http://www.boulevard.com/wp-content/....boulevard.com

They also put out "seasonals" and some holiday beer (like Valentines day) they just did a Chocolate Ale (selling on CL and Ebay for 50+ dollars) it is pretty good stuff

I'll check out if any of my locals spots carry this brand. I'd try their smokestake series.

I like good beer but $15 a bottle is about the max I'd spend. I've been burnt by really expensive bottles before and won't get fooled again.
Boulevard sounds familiar... not sure if I've seen it in local stores though.

If not a bottle "should" be about 8-900 (I got a couple of the ones above for that price and am shipping them to friends) I am sure if you would like one of their other ones to try I could get you one w/o issue lmk

Yeah the foot print of Boulevard is a little small (and growing though) their staples are probably out the Smokestacks are "Special"

The price on the Chocolate Ale was around 8-10 dollars people just went nuts

You consider Boulevard small? They are relatively large for a craft brewer, but yes they make good beer. I've had just about all of it. I didn't realize the Chocolate ale was in demand this year. Last year nobody seemed to want it.

No one wanted it last year? They sold out in less than 24 hrs

Yes I view BLVD as being "small" considering the market they cover vs other larger breweries (although in the past year the physical brewery has grown) and is growing and the market area is as well. They actually went right for Sam Adam's back yard in a pretty bold move.

Yeah that Chocolate Ale is crazy popular. I haven't tried it yet.
I drink a Boulevard pretty often. I think they make great beer. We actually have quite a few interesting breweries here in Kansas, including Tallgrass and Free State.

Beer connoisseur here. I've had some of the Boulevard Smokestack series which were pretty good. My two favorites were the Sixth Glass and Tank 7 Farmhouse Ale. Living in Colorado, I'm fortunate enough to have many micro breweries around including:

New Belgium
Odells
Left Hand
Avery
Great Divide
Dam Brewery
Backcountry Brewery
BJ's
Boulder Beer
Breckenridge Brewery
Bristol
CB & Potts
Dry Dock
Durango Brewing
Mountain Sun
Oskar Blues
Rock Bottom
Tommyknocker
Upslope
Wynkoop

I'm sure there are probably a few others I have forgotten.

Pliney the younger, apparently winner of "Best beer in the world" is being served for another week at the Russian River Brewery. People come from all over the world for a taste every year.

I'm going today, waiting for 2 hours in line to get some. I'll be tying one on a bit earlier than usual today lol.

Anyone had Tactical Nuclear Penguin?

http://www.brewdog.com/product/tactical-nuclear-penguin

This is the worlds strongest ever beer, ever (yes ever).

No Penguins were harmed in the making of this beer; some humans did get very, very cold though. It was worth it.

The Antarctic name, inducing schizophrenia, of this Ÿber-imperial stout originates from the amount of time it spent exposed to extreme cold. This beer was initially double barrel aged for 14 months; maturing in the deep, rich oak of Scottish whisky casks. After this epic maturation the beer was then frozen, then frozen again, then frozen again.

Also it "was" the strongest they got beat right after release

In Germany and Belgium I tried quite a few high percentage alcohol beers, did not like them too much. They seemed to taste like shit compared to the stuff around 9-10%. Anything over 15% just wasn't good for some reason. Can't imagine what 32% would taste like, but something tells me it's not very good. I'd have to try it sometime.

There are some decent breweries I've been to up in the Raliegh-Durham area. Totally spoiled on beer though living in Germany for a few years, still trying to get back into the "American" beer scene.

Just got back from SLC and that place is microbrew heaven. Didn't have a beer that wasn't delicious in the 4 days I was there. Stuck mostly to IPAs but honestly can't remember names

Wish my local bevvie sold indiv. bottles so I wouldn't have to go through expensive 6 packs to try new brews. Might have to find another place.

and there's a great thread here with tons of good beers listed

I'm from Heineken Country but as a connoisseur I ''d say the best brand of beers is called: Enough.

With my wife at some Oktoberfest
