Recommendation on premium car rental in CA?
So my parents are coming to State for a couple weeks, I am planning to take them for a little round trip from Bay area to LA/SD. I am currently live in Missouri, so we have to rent a car from local rental company. To make this trip a bit more enjoyable, I am planning to rent some nice GT/sports car. Neither my parents will be too concern about ride comfort, but I do not want to make the trip too tiring neither. so right now I am looking at either m3, a m6/650i convertible or Cayman R/911 +SUV (there is totally 4 of us so up to 2 cars is doable).
So for any of you guys that have experienced a road trip from SF to LA, what kind of car will you recommend for 4 average size adults? Also are there any car rental companies you guys recommend? appreciate for any input. Edit: We are also planning to visit Yellow Stone for 4-5days, any general recommendation regarding where to stay, places to visit etc. Last edited by HermanL; 04-07-2012 at 08:43 PM.. |

How much you want to spend per day on the car?
looks like you can get a boxster for 179 a day. 911 is 500 a day http://www.bhlax.com/rental_car/conv...e_boxster.html

Funny, back in '09 I did almost what you're doing, but backwards. Started at LAX, worked my way up to Yosemite, over to SF and back down to LA.
I rented a new 5er from http://www.midwaycarrental.com/locat...s_airport.aspx Maybe they could deliver to SF? Kind of doubtful though. I would also recommend a large sedan for comfort for 4. Maybe a 7 or an S-class? |

^Nice, looks like M5 would be a better choice, the reason that I want to rent a sports car is because my dad has never actually drove any nice sports car before, I would really like to let him experience something different. I am also planning to take him to Vegas and try out some exotic on track, I have looked around for awhile, haven't find one that would allow me to drop off at different destinations.

I rented a G37 in san Diego and dropped it off in SF. Hertz has plenty of one way options. They have benzes available too. G37 isn't exotic but it got the job done nicely on the PCH and canyon roads.

Hmmm...not a bad choice either but G37 seems a bit crowed for 4 adults though
