Hi all,

I've been thinking of picking up a mirrorless camera in the upcoming months as the new grab and go camera. Sometimes just lugging around my D90 /w 50mm len is a little bit cumbersome for day to day use. I really enjoy using my DSLR on vacations or special planned events.

I'd like to hear your input and thoughts on these new cameras. They do a lot of what the entry level DSLRs can do but in a much more compact size.

Although it doesn't exactly fall into the 'mirrorless' category, I recently bought a Fuji X10 to supplement my Nikon D200 and several lenses, but I now find myself leaving the SLR bag at home and take the X10 everywhere I go.
The IQ is amazing and, with it's fast lens and very good sensor, the low-light performance far exceeds that of my D200. I did some 200% crop comparisons with my friend's Sony NEX7 on his 27" Apple screen and there wasn't much to separate the two in terms of sharpness.
I know there's the 'white disc' or 'orb' issue which can occasionally result in hard edged white discs from specular highlights, but Fuji have developed a new sensor, which will be replaced under warranty.

Do it. I bought an EP-1 a couple years back to take on a long trip and until someone stole it, it rode around in my car at all times. Such a great little camera to carry around because I had full control like a DSLR, could shoot RAW, but didn't have to worry about banging it up thanks to how small it was. I would have missed out on one of my favorite shots had I not had it with me one night

I've had a Sony NEX-5 and now a Sony NEX-7 for a couple of years now.. I love the smaller format and quality is every bit as good as any APS-C level SLR.. I bring it virtually everywhere all the time and people hardly notice or care that you have it...

I have been collecting a decent amount of really good classic glass for my Sony as well because of the shorter flange distance I can even buy small Leica rangefinder glass amoung others and just adapt it for use..

I chose the sony over micro 4/3 competitors because of it's APS-C sensor (only a 1.5 crop), superior EVF, highest resolution tiltable preview screen, focus peaking and very small size..

i have the fuji x-pro 1 for a couple of weeks now. had the nikon d5100 before. its a lot better.
some time ago i wrote in the sanpshot of the day thread that my fotos lacked something, that they werent alive, this is no longer an issue with the Fuji.. out of camera jpegs have that 3d effect, the best way i can describe it its that they are alive.. i plan on giving a thorough review with pictures in a couple of weeks.
