Only if they somehow find out that a modified CDV caused an issue that had detrimental effects on the car.

Morale lesson to remember, Keep your old CDV and if you suspect a transmission problem always reinstall the old CDV before taking it back to the dealer for warranty work!!!!!!

All good tips, Shift, get off the clutch and dont dare keep your hand on that shifter. Also be careful of wha kind of shift knobs you put on, depending on how heavy it is can play a part of breaking down the tranny quicker. When you put the car in gear and are driving and have a heavy shift knob or rest your hand on it. If the shifter is moved a hair while in gear, you can cause remature wear and tear. The transmissions are designed once put in the gear you have selected, any movement of the shifter or like resting your hand can close the small gap between the gears to allow proper lubrication of all the moving parts. And improper use of the shifter/clutch cause problems. So remember, Clutch/Shift/and Two hands on the wheel.

Last December! I don't think this forum even existed back then!

But yeah, I seem to remember some of us had a pretty heated debate in a thread you started a month or two ago on manual vs. step - isn't that always the case...

As shimshim replied, this pressure on the shifter is just a split second before you step on the clutch, so I don't think the synchros will wear prematurely from it.

I noticed when I first got my car that the shifting was very stiff, but it loosened considerably after about 500 miles.

Yeah I started a thread saying BMW mannys were not very sporty. The usual remarks followed, auto vs. manny etc. Thankfully that thread died a quiet death!

Compared to my old boxster, the throw feels very good. My only sticking point is 5th to 4th. Feels like it "bounces" out sometimes. Perhaps just casue it brand spankin' new?

That shift just seems extra long for me...
