Need recommendations: Road Trip From SF Bay Area

I’m trying to plan a road trip for about a week from SF Bay Area for my family (all adults). This is for the end of August / early September.

These places are off the list:
- Yellowstone
- Tahoe Area
- Yosemite
- Monterey / Carmel
- Southern Cal.
- Reno
- Oregon / Seattle area

I’m wondering if you guys have any other ideas besides the places I mentioned above. I'm willing to drive as far as Colorado, if there's anything good to see there.

If you like spectacular scenery, Bryce Canyon in Southern Utah (or Zion Canyon too, but I haven't visited there yet) would be an excellent choice. That's about the right time weather-wise to be visiting that area too.

One week sounds long for all of them except Seattle.

Without a variety of activities or attractions, a trip with others, let alone family members, would rive me crazy.

What about going through LA, to Vegas, and Grand Canyon? Unless you have done this already.

you should download google earth and find some point of interests (or simply look them up) and then make your plan. A week is quite long and you'd need a lot of things to do to make it fun.
