Home Security Systems. Anyone use Safe-Mart?
Looking into security systems for my new home. I've looked into ADT and Frontpoint which seem to be the biggest ones but they both require you to sign a 3month contract and I'm not really liking that.
Time warner just came out with Intelligent Home which only requires an 18month contract but all you get is 3 window / door sensors and more are extra. Upside though is that it's only 33.99$ per month. I've found a company called Safe Mart that sells DIY systems and has low monthly fee's as long as low contracts. They are offering me a system with a touch screen, 10 sensors and other goodies for about 530$ and the monthly cost will be 30$ per month with a 1year agreement. I've been trying to find reviews about them but its been a bit sketchy where some people say its good and some say its bad. Anyone had any experience? tl;dr: Anyone tried Safe Mart or have any home security system recommendations? |

We have a local provider that we use Sentry Alarm. Do you have any local companies that may be cheaper. We have 4 door sensors and 3 motion detectors 2 key pads and pay about $25 monthly. I cant imagine not having a security system, I sleep so much better. When i was a kid we would go to bed with the front door unlocked!

Just get whichever has the cheapest total price of full install+obligatory contract. Then cancel the contract afterwards. That's assuming you live in the suburbs and know your neighbors, rather than out in the sticks.
Think about it- as soon as the siren goes off the thieves will be running...maybe even as soon as they hear the tone upon entering. The cops will show up 2 to 30 minutes later. What are they going to do...look around and say "yup...someone sure done did breaked in"? The noise gives you 95% of the benefit. |

Laser activated sound system... VERY LOUD sound system and some simple cameras.... or two big dogs...its really simple.
You have to think, if you have an alarm system, yeah the cops will be alerted but WAY WAY TO lateif you have some fast ass crooks.. A dog will react right there on that ass.

I actually ended up going with Time Warner Intelligent Home. The station tablet looks super high tech and each time someone new visits my place they always ask about it lol. Going to wall mount it in a room soon. Monthly is 33.99$ and only an 18month contract so its not to bad.

This is how my dog has been sleeping at the hotel we are staying at. He is a black lab, but the best watch dog ever! Don't need an alarm with this guy.

I had ADT. The last time the alarm went off, I beat the cops to the house and I work 22 miles away. Now we no longer have it monitored by ADT and just use the system as a noise maker. No point in paying 33 bucks a month when the police response is that slow.

In my area I use Power Home Technologies. It's a pretty basic alarm. Motion detector inside with all the doors monitored. The system is wireless and can operate even in a power outage. I can use my iPhone to monitor/arm/disarm as well. No cameras or anything like that, but maybe I will add them later. It also does fire alarms as well.
