When I lived in the Washington, D.C. area where appearance seems to be everything to many residents, I saw lots of 3 and 5 series BMWs with ///M badges. We called them $40 M cars. LOL

How about this guys.
I live in South-Africa and have paid more for my 320i //M-Sport Package ($48 000) than 99% of all 330i owners on this site.
I debadged because it does look cleaner, on the black paint. I dont have dual exhausts, only a single one (like the diesel).
I also dont have chrome door linings. Or chrome grills. There for I cannot pretend to be driving a 325i or 330i because the appearences are so different anyone would notice it, except for the //M package ofcoarse. It's not like I can pretend it's a 325i or 330i at all then. I did it purely for the sleeker look.

But wait since I do have the real //M Sport Package maybe I should put the //M logo on my E90's ass. There were it used to say 320i. That would piss all you 330i owners off!! Wouldn't it.

I wouldn't be lying about anything, now would I?
It is a //M sport model after all, not a sport package.

Just joking (please no hate replies)
Not really going too do it.
Debadging rules!!!

Doesn't matter what your badge says it looks better without it.
Period.

Its not a debate that many many more 325i's are debadged than 330i's its just a fact.

It is also a fact that he 330i is viewed as a premium brand--hence almost all magazines and articles focus EXCLUSIVELY on the 330i.

It is also a fact that most 325i owners are o asked why they didn't get a 330i (this happened to me non-stop when I owned my E46 325i). Conversely 330i owners are never (or rarely) asked why they didn't get a 325i instead (I have never been asked a single time since getting my 330i).

does this mean 325 ers debadge to give the illusion that they are driving a 330i? Of course NOT!!!!!

Why? Because all BMW owners have GREAT pride in their machines. I had pride in my 330i but also love and pride for my E46 325i.

If you don't care... then by all means debadge your 325 and let me have a good laugh. My opinion shouldn't matter to you...

I dont agree at all. Here in NJ and NY many people debadge M cars. Why? it looks cleaner! My 330 looks cleaner now and so did the m5 I saw yesterday that was all smooth. Many AMG benz run around here smooth too.

If people really wanted to act like they had a 330i they would buy a new 330i badge for $20.00 and place it on their 325i rather then just taking off a badge. Now thats lame and acting like you have something you dont! Kinda like a fake coach bag or that Tag you can buy for a 20 spot in the city! I would rather have no watch then wear a fake!

Taking it off because it looks better it a good reason no matter what kind of car it is.

rebadging as something else is just lame!

Some lady in loaded X3 was pulling up close to my bumper in traffic trying to see what kind of car mine was today. She had a puzzled look on her face. haha maybe she thinks I am driving a new M3 or M5 haha. JK

Any girl that takes off her badges in my mind is a good target since she may like to take it all off! Keep that in mind boys! JK

Bella is not like that!

Wear a cheesy outfit to the bar... it might not matter to you that people laugh... but when they do, don't complain or post about it. Don't defend your reasoning for wearing that outfit and certainly don't think we don't know any better. It's our opinion and if you don't car what others think, then why all the posts...?

-Garrett
If people want to laugh cause they have disdain for what i did to my car, go ahead. They arent paying my monthly payment...
Its human nature to disagree on issues.. if we didnt, life would be pretty boring.

If i was really trying to make my car look like a 330, wouldnt i go to the extreme and get the chrome accents, change the wheels, and get a 330 badge. Now thats pretty ridiculous..

debadging if fine, but rebadging your car something it's not is lame.

my last car, a bmw e34 525i, was debadged. i did it simply because it really did look cleaner imho. and if anybody asked, i proudly said, "it's a 525i!"

i plan to also debadge my e90 325i for the same reason.

btw... i've seen several debadged m cars in the bay area. there's a stock green e46 m3 right by my work that's debadged. first ever e39 m5 i've seen, which had a sign that said sold on the dealer floor, was debadged.

there can be many reasons why a person debadges. but to say the majority debadge because they're ashamed of what they have is wrong.

my $0.03 (adjusted for inflation).

What words did I put in your mouth? I was trying to be civil and now I think your letting your ego get the best of you Garrett. You have a very close minded way of looking at things. No one is making a feeble attempt to make their cars look like something it's not, and no one here has penis-envy (whatever that is). Your opinion on this matter does not hold up to be true anyways, because plenty of 330I owners have posted pics of their cars WITHOUT a badge. You can Chuckle all you want, I don't even know you so I really could care less what you think, just that I believe if you are going to join a E90 forum without even owning an E90 you should at lease make useful and respectful posts.

if that's what viagra pill would look like, i don't think you'd get much action after taking it.

that looks like a pill i need when i drive and the road is just saturated with assholes and dumbasses that learnt how to drive from their grandmas and/or abusive alcoholic fathers...

Easier to clean isn't an excuss, I'm meticulious about my car as many Bimm owners are... cleaning or waxing around and between the badge takes a whole 20 minutes.

Asthetically pleasing for a cleaner look only seems to work on 325's... isn't that weird ??

My car and several others on this forum have their E90's spec'd out in such a way that we could easily de-badge our cars and pass them off as 330i's (and yes, even many 330i owners would be fooled). I personally didn't set out to make my car to look like a 330i. I just liked certain features that are standard/available on it that aren't on the 325. In fact, I'm glad I got the 325 because we get the black window trim which I think looks better than the chrome anyway and even some 330i owners would back me up on that.

I have kept my 325i badge and plan to do so - to me, it does not look any cleaner and I want people to know I have a 325i - personal choice, that's all. Does that mean if I decide to de-badge in the future, would I then be suffering from "penis-envy" (what that has to do with this debate, I don't know...) when my E90 costs just as much, if not more, than some 330i's.

I don't feel like I have to justify why I bought a 325i over a 330i, and it feels like many 325i owners do, and they shouldn't have to. The same goes for de-badging - definitely a double-standard here.

btw, this post isn't directed to just you, but to those who think this de-badging thing is endemic to 325i owners who are ashamed of their model and are trying to fool others b/c that is just
