F30 is just a mini F10?
When the new F10 5er came out I found myself really enjoying the styling and look of the car, and I still do. I think the M5 is a monster and one of my favorite sedans out there. And the 5 series is a true E-Class/A6 competitor. It's a great car.
But I saw a F30 328 parked right by a F10 528 and from the back, at quick glance, the cars looked almost identical. The new 3 series looks like a mini-me 5 series, not the differentiated sporty sedan the E90 is. Yes, I'm sure the M3 will be a beast, and I know that I've seen some beautiful MSport 335s modded tastefully, but what I've heard from driving reviews, the car really is just a mini luxury sedan, for people who can't afford a 5 series... Not a differentiated model. I know I'm probably starting a flame war, but as a BMW enthusiast, I had to share my opinion on a BMW forum. Posted from my iPhone, so I may not have gotten all of my thoughts typed out... Pics:

When I was test driving F30 328's and 335's, my sales guy accidentally walked to a 5 series, opened the door, sat inside... and he realized it was a 5 series only once he set in the driver's seat
The two cars look very much alike. I do wish I took the time to test drive the 5-series. At the time, I was convinced the 3-series was the right sized vehicle for me, but the differences are really not that much in size and weight (and even price). |
