Happy to be in Europe. In fact, happy to be in Luxembourg - there's no radars here. Only the mobile ones but the police always post on their own website (as well as newspapers) where are they gonna be at both before and after midday. LOL

I laughed my head off when I first saw this after I moved here. Warning people where they gonna be... kinda defeats the whole purpose of the cameras being mobile? But hey, that's how they work here in Luxembourg and I'm not complaining.

In normal countries, you would lose your license for at least a few months for running the red light. And with a good reason as that is one of the most dangerous offenses there -- you could have easily killed someone coming from the green direction. Even more dangerous in the USA as the spacing between red and green is almost non-existent (no yellow).
So, $490 is nothing!

Most of the remainder of Europe has stricter rules than California, and certainly have (well) hidden cameras all over the place

I was making a left at a T intersection with no one on the road, but I understand it's dangerous.

I just paid San Mateo County $510 ($20 credit card processing fee )

Probably BS, maybe you've read it before but still makes me laugh.

TRAFFIC CAMERA



I was driving when I saw the flash of a traffic camera. I
figured that my picture had been taken for exceeding the limit even though I knew that I was not speeding.

Just to be sure, I went around the block and passed the same
spot, driving even more slowly, but again the camera flashed.

Now I began to think that this was quite funny, so I drove
even slower as I passed the area once more, but the traffic camera again flashed.

I tried a fourth and fifth time with the same results and
was now laughing as the camera flashed while I rolled past at a snail's pace.

Two weeks later, I got five tickets in the mail for driving
without a seat belt.

You can't fix stupid.....
