Most people swear by Porsche reliability but at the same time most never even cross 50k mark. I read that even with good driver clutch can go around 50k, and IMS issue still exist on pre 2009 models, post 2009 have DI and might have carbon build up issue like all Audis and obviously cost more. I am looking at 2007-2008 Caymans Last edited by Kolyan2k; 07-21-2013 at 08:15 AM.. |

Every car will have its "issues" in some sort of way and I would say maintenance costs would be on level with the M3. |

Well after careful consideration I decided to keep my S2k. It was either this on buy 07-08 Cayman S with low miles, however after reading nightmare stories from owners with bad reliability I decided to pass....cylinder scoring (dead engine), oil starvation (dead engine), IMS (dead engine), RMS (turns out leaks are common on Porsches and considered normal), premature water pump failure, and just other small issues with misfires due to coil packs and other things.....Many times I read how owners are afraid to redline the car, how they baby them, I can redline my S all day long and still cross 200k miles
ps. price difference between my S and newer and much lower miles Cayman S is only 10-15k max, almost pocket money lol Its just TOO bad those engines have such a piss poor design Last edited by Kolyan2k; 10-22-2013 at 10:47 AM.. |
