Nice laptop upgrade for editing
Speed and storage space all in one drive. Nice. Not too pricey either.
WD 120GB SSD/1TB SATA combo drive Newegg has these in stock now for $299.

I've got a 2TB external HD at home to back up my laptop and my desktop and a 3TB HD in the network at work that I keep synchronized with the external HD at home. Flickr is another backup, but it only has JPEG files, not Raw. Next time that I replace my home desktop (my main imaging computer) I will probably go with a dual HD, one SS and one SATA and then keep the SATA in sync with the offsite network HD. BTW, I have two friends that had their life's work destroyed this last year, one in fire and one in flood. Physical offsite is a must, if you value your files. I like being able to see my drives, but Cloud is better than nothing. Dave

I have a 3TB USB 3.0 drive on my work machine where I back up my card dumps (RAW files). So there are two copies at work, one on the machine and one on the external. I also dump to my laptop and back that up to a 1TB external, then I do the same on my home PC with mirrored 1TB drives and a 2TB external. So I have several copies including two outside my home.
I have a 50GB box.com account where my finished jpgs get sync'd regularly. This combo drive is cheaper that the 500GB SSD I dropped in my MacBook Pro. If I were to just be upgrading that now, I'd go with one of these combo drives to have the speed and space.
