Connection Instructions - Netflix Streaming / NetGear Neo
I am thinking about streaming netflix versus dvd's and have some questions about the service and hooking up a NetGear Neo box. Apologies in advance for the stupid questions but......
Monthly Fee Question: 1. Netflix service is $7.99/month. Is that per "box" or one fee ($7.99) to the house and you can hookup as many NetGear boxes as you want to buy? Installation Question: 1. I want to install two NetGear boxes. Downstairs I have a modem so it looks fairly straightforward. In the upstairs bedroom there is no modem. Just cable service from the wall to the cable providers box then HDMI connection from there to the TV. How would the NetGear Neo hookup in that scenario? Thanks in advance. |

be aware that the streaming selection is dick compared to mail out selection. For movies that is.

your netflix account doesn't have any set number of devices you can stream to. You can log into any number of devices to stream so TV, computer, phone, tablets, playstation etc. all work on the same account no issue.

What Nate didn't address and i'm not sure about either, is if you can log into those devices on the same account all at the SAME time. Anyone know the answer to this?

thx for the replies. that answers the access issue. anyone familiar with the installation? it is not clear to me if i have to go through a router or if i just connect an HDMI from the NetGear Neo to the tv and power to the Neo and thats its. reading netgears site it appears as if thats the case but that doesnt make sense to me.

You’re either thinking wayyy too hard about this, or you probably shouldn’t be using sharp utensils to cut your food (I’m going to assume the former). Wireless streaming boxes: NeoTV, Roku, Apple TV, etc all have built in wireless connectivity as well as a port to connect directly to your modem/router with a cat-5 cable. To answer your question: Plug it in, enter in your wifi password, and it should walk you through the rest. I have Apple TV’s hooked up to all my tv’s in my apartment. Aside from the one in my living room, they’re all wirelessly connected. Furthermore, when I occasionally need to travel with it, all I need is a wifi connection. Netflix keep changing their rules, but currently, I know for a fact that you can have at least two devices playing at the same time. This comes in handy as my girlfriend flew a total of 100k+ miles last year and watches Netflix on most flights with wifi. As others have said, they seem to have changed their rules on the number of devices, but between three ipads, three laptops, and three apple tvs, I haven’t had any issues. |
