Qustion on Audi Q7
I'm looking at the Q7; it's there any one here that can give me any input.
I already test the X5 but I'm not too crazy for the design. Any input is appreciated Thanks |

We were looking for an SUV for my wife to replace her RX, and also came across X5 and Q7. We both chose Q7 over X5, for more space, comfort, better interior design, and after the test drive of both, I should say that Q7 definitely drives better for every day use.
One of my friends got new X5 couple months ago, and now, after test drive Q7 he is in a process of switching to Q7.

Hi,
The Q7 is a great SUV, nice ride, fit and finish in Audi's are very difficult to beat IMO. The interior space is very generous and it has some interesting seating options. I like the Quattro AWD system also (Torsen not as much the Haldex system), had 2 Audi’s in the past and are great winter automobiles as I’m sure you already know! My cousin has the Q7, his wife the Touareg (both are nice actually). When I compare it to my parents XC90 or my wife's XC70 for that matter. The XC90 is quite spacious but the Q7 is even better, the only real edge in the XC90 is its square design that is more practical for bulky items. Later, |

I reckon the new X5 looks better than the Q7 and the same applies inside. It does drive better than the old X5 but then again so does the Q7.
If space is really important than get the Q7 but if not the new X5 is the better drive.....no question. If you are talking about the old X5, forget it and get the Q7. P.S. What about the Cayenne? |

As you can see, I have a touareg in my sig pic after I did the whole X5, Touareg, Cayenne comparison a few years ago. I'm looking to replace it now and i'm in the same quandry you are. The X5 is very nice, and a lot sportier than I thought it would be, but like you, I m not that much of a fan of its design, especially on the inside. I think it comes down to not wanting to have to cars that have idrive. Havingmultiple cars to me is fun because the cars are different. The X5 just doesn't excite me. Plus, the V6 is a bit underpowered (although its still peppy in low speed accelerations), and a well equipped V8 is way too much to pay for an SUV when you're not much of an SUV fan.
I love audi's and the Q7 is really the closest thing to an A8 SUV. It is super plush, super comfortable, and extremely well appointed. It would clearly be my choice if it weren't so massive. After driving it, it's just too big. If I lived in the country, it would be fine, but I have no desire to drive through the city running errands in something so massive. But if you're going to keep it on the highway, its the easy choice. I'm starting to realize why I picked the Touareg in the first place. It draws no attention, has a nice V8, and just gets the job done. But since the new Cayenne V6 is pushing 290hp, my decision was made for me. Honestly, I think the MB GL, especially in 450 is a really nice, well appointed yet reasonably priced car. It seems like the blend of the X5 and the Q7... If only I could convince myself to drive a Benz.
