Which former BMW Films director won an oscar this weekend?
BIMMERPOST NEWS Which former BMW Films director won an oscar this weekend? If you were watching the oscar's this past weekend, the jovial director of "Birdman", Alejandro González Iñárritu, took home an oscar for Best Director and movie also won awards for Best Original Screenplay and Best Picture. Quite a feat. But for us BMW fans, you may also remember a small little game changer called BMW Films: The Hire, starring Clive Owen. Well each short film was directed by a different director, each of amazing talents in their own right. Alejandro González Iñárritu's contribution was the short called "Powder Keg", one of my personal favorites of the series. In this episode, our fearless BMW driver rescue's a war photographer (Harvey Jacobs) from hostile territory. |

Most certainly is.... Kinda strikes a chord with me actually, a lot. I once was the "yuppy doing their weekly line of coke" until I realized the horrific pain my money was funding. So I traveled to MX, Colombia, Honduras, Nicaraugua and gave back to those people I'd taken away from. Some may say I'm bullshitting, but if you'd like I'll show pictures. But Manbnda, as someone from MX, you're probably all too familiar with the reality in this "story". My best wishes to you.

Good thing Alejandro Gonzalez pointed out (@Oscars) the corrupt government MX is passing through right now. Media awareness help. Kind regards |

My wife and I screened Whiplash just before the ceremony. Fantastic film. In particular, the editing. I'm in the industry as well and in early years I was a competitive Jazz drummer. Obviously the content struck a chord but moreso was the storytelling and creation of anticipation done moreso through editorial than direction. Well done, sir.

I personally felt that had Boyhood won for Editing, it would have been a complete mistake. I knew from the getgo that Whiplash should be nominated and glad the Academy felt the same.
