IOMTT Press Release:
After the disappointment of Monday evening’s session being cancelled, riders were back out on the course on Tuesday for the 2015 Isle of Man TT Races, but with strong winds and squally showers, the decision was made to make the session untimed but deteriorating conditions on the Isle of Man resulted in the sidecars missing out completely. Although the session was un-timed at least the competitors had the opportunity to get out on the Mountain Course on all of their bikes with sessions scheduled for all classes. At 6.25pm, the 1000cc sessions were finally unleashed for the first time although riders were warned of strong winds on the Mountain, bright sun at Appledene and damp patches at Tower Bends. First away were Michael Dunlop and Michael Rutter, swiftly followed by Ian Hutchinson and James Hillier, Guy Martin and Bruce Anstey and Lee Johnston and Gary Johnson. However, the latter only got as far as Ballaugh before breaking down and Dan Stewart was another of the early starters to suffer problems although he was able to return to the Grandstand and get back out. All the riders were out on their Superbikes and Hutchinson was first to complete a lap ahead of Dunlop, Rutter and Martin, the last three all pulling in to either make changes or switch to their Superstock machines. Conor Cummins also pulled reporting that Windy Corner was living up to its name whilst Ryan Farquhar also stated there were a number of damp patches in places. The session lasted until 7.05pm, which meant just six riders managed to get out for a third lap; Hutchinson, Hillier, John McGuinness, Anstey, Martin and Rutter. All six managed two laps on their Superbike and one on their Superstock. At 7.10pm, it was the turn of the Supersports and Lightweights although rain was already reported on the west coast of the island. Martin Jessopp was first away on his Lightweight machine but the majority of the field were Supersport-mounted including Jamie Hamilton, Michal Dokoupil, David Johnson, William Dunlop and Ivan Lintin. However, just as the riders were two thirds of the way round their first lap, the rain started to get heavier, on both the west coast and over the Mountain. Indeed, McGuinness reported conditions were very sketchy on his third lap and that it was also very cold over the Mountain. With conditions worsening, Clerk of the Course Gary Thompson decided to flag the session off at 7.35pm with riders out on course brought back to the start and finish under waved yellow flags. It was hoped to get the F2 Sidecars underway at 8.10pm but with no sign of the weather easing over the Mountain, the unfortunate decision was made to bring the evening’s activities to an end. The weather reports for the rest of the week are broadly positive so hopes are high for some good, clear practice sessions ahead of Saturday’s first scheduled race day. There were three reported incidents in the solo’s session; American Brandon Cretu and Philip Crowe were reported off at Kerrowmoar and Laurel Bank but were both reported OK by the traveling marshals while Mark Herbertson was airlifted to Nobles with a reported shoulder injury after coming off at Mountain Box. |

Holden/Sayle stay top of the sidecar leaderboard
Perfect conditions again greeted the competitors for Thursday evening’s qualifying session at the 2015 Isle of Man TT Races, fuelled by Monster Energy. It proved to be a superb night for speeds with Ian Hutchinson and John McGuinness both lapping at more than 130mph. The session got underway at 6.24pm with the only slight issue for riders being a damp patch at Laurel Bank. Hutchinson (PBM Kawasaki) and Michael Rutter (Penz13.com/Bathams BMW) were first away followed by the Tyco BMW pairing of Guy Martin and William Dunlop, Gary Johnson (GBMoto Kawasaki) and Michael Dunlop who was out on his MD Racing Superstock BMW. Lee Johnston, James Hillier and David Johnson were also out on their Superstock machines with the likes of Bruce Anstey, John McGuinness, Dan Kneen and Dan Stewart all on board their Superbikes. Ian Hutchinson was first back at 129.793 followed by Rutter (127.896), Martin (128.504) and William Dunlop (128.139). Anstey and McGuinness slotted into second and third in the Superbike class though with laps of 129.139 and 128.642 respectively whilst Michael Dunlop was clearly happy to be back on his BMW as he was comfortably the quickest Superstock machine at 128.447mph. The whole field were capitalizing on the excellent conditions all round the course and Hutchy continued to blaze a trail at the head of the field, utilising the clear track he had in front of him. Indeed, he was the first to break the 130mph barrier at TT2015 on his second lap with a speed of 130.266. Anstey was just over two seconds slower at 129.957 but McGuinness was quicker at 130.030, his lap 1.8s slower than Hutchinson. William Dunlop reeled in team-mate Martin to go fourth quickest at an impressive 129.419 with the Lincolnshire rider slightly slower at 128.963. Rutter was also going well on his BMW with a lap of 128.529 while Conor Cummins was the only other rider to break the 128mph barrier. Jamie Hamilton continued to impress with a lap of 127.752, comfortably his best ever of the Mountain Course, with last year’s best newcomer Peter Hickman upping his pace to 126.122. Ryan Kneen again shone with a speed of 125.441 whilst Alan Bonner, a newcomer in 2014, shot up the leaderboard with an excellent lap of 125.235. Another notable performance came from Sam West, a newcomer at last year’s Manx Grand Prix, with his speed being 121.284. In the Superstock class, Michael Dunlop increased his pace second time around to 129.659, which was the fourth fastest lap of the night, with Hutchinson jumping up to second on 128.308 and David Johnson into third on 127.470. Newcomers Derek McGee and Tom McHale improved further too with laps of 119.033 and 117.248 respectively. At 7.05pm, the second solo session, for Supersport and Lightweight machines, got underway but shortly afterwards it was red flagged due to an incident at Ballagarey involving Roy Richardson who was on his lightweight machine. He was taken by airmed to Nobles hospital where he was reported to have leg injuries. Some Lightweight riders did complete their lap and after a delay the session was restarted with one more solo lap. Gary Johnson was quickest in the Supersport class with a speed of 124.307 on the Mar-Train Yamaha with Anstey the only other rider over 124mph. William Dunlop was third with Dean Harrison, Ian Hutchinson and Lee Johnston completing the top six. Ryan Farquhar continued to set the pace in the Lightweight class at 117.432 as he chases his fourth TT win, with Ivan Lintin (116.804) and Jamie Hamilton (115.538) in second and third. James Cowton, Daniel Cooper and Michael Sweeney completed the top six with Rutter getting his first full lap in on the Paton at 111.588. McGee again impressed at 111.254. As a result of the earlier delay, the sidecars had their session slightly shortened but when it did commence, Dave Molyneux/Ben Binns set the early pace with a lap of 114.291. Ben and Tom Birchall were next over the line at 113.072 but John Holden/Dan Sayle upstaged them all by going quickest at 114.742, five seconds faster than Molyneux. Tim Reeves/Patrick Farrance slotted into third at 113.720 as Conrad Harrison/Mike Aylott and Ian and Carl Bell also lapped above 110mph. Last year’s quickest newcomers, Alan Founds/Tom Peters, were also going well with their opening speed being 108.163. Second time around Molyneux stopped at Kerromoar and Reeves and Birchall were practically inseparable at 113.966 and 113.922 respectively. Harrison improved to 111.533 with the Bells not too far behind at 110.933. Gary Bryan/Jamie Winn placed sixth at 109.398 with Founds improving second time around to 108.986. |

Michael Dunlop is switching back to the BMW bikes that he raced at last year’s TT, on which he won three races including his historic Senior TT victory.
The Northern Ireland rider will now be riding for Stuart Hicken’s Swadlincote based Buildbase BMW team in the RST Superbike Race, which is scheduled for Saturday 6th June, and the PokerStars Senior TT Race the following Friday 12th June. He will also be riding his own MD Racing BMW in Monday’s RL360 Superstock Race and will contest the two Monster Energy Supersport Races on his MD Racing Honda. Commenting on the decision, Michael said: “I would like to thank Milwaukee Yamaha for their support in bringing me into their team and I am genuinely sorry to be making this decision but unfortunately I don’t think there is enough time left with the sessions we’ve already lost at the TT to be truly competitive and get the bike to the level we need to in order to win races here.” The 11-time TT race winner will be looking to get the most possible track time ahead of Saturday’s races and will be appearing on the BMW’s in this evening’s qualifying session, which will be only the second timed Superbike qualifying session of the week. |

William Dunlop airlifted to hospital after crashing during Isle of Man TT practice lap
William Dunlop has been airlifted to hospital with suspected chest injuries after crashing during a practice lap at the Isle of Man TT. The injury has ruled him out of tonight's Supersport race at 6.30pm. The Ballymoney rider was taken to Nobles Hospital to have his injuries assessed - but his team Tyco BMW have confirmed he has not suffered any broken bones. They are "hopeful" he can race later in the week. "William has nothing broken after being checked. He's a little bit banged up and we are hopeful he can race later in the week," they tweeted. It comes just one day after his younger brother Michael escaped serious injury when he crashed in the closing stages of Sunday's rescheduled Superbike race. He missed out on third place in the opening race when he came off close to the finish line. The 26-year-old was brought back in an ambulance and limped back to the paddock. |

Hutchinson wins Supersport Race 1 in comeback
Ian Hutchinson claimed his ninth Isle of Man TT victory during Monday’s Supersport Race 1 on the revered 37.73-mile Snaefell Mountain Course. The 35-year-old Englishman had not competed on a competitive bike in several years in the Isle of Man TT after undergoing multiple operations on a badly injured leg, which he had sustained in a near career ending motorcycle-racing crash in 2010. http://www.foxsports.com/motor/story...chinson-060815 |

William Dunlop has been ruled out of the rest of this year's Isle of Man TT after crashing in practice on Monday. The Ballymoney rider, 29, sustained extensive bruising and a broken rib when he came off his BMW Superstock machine at Laurel Bank. His Tyco BMW team initially reported the rider was "a bit banged up" but were hopeful he would be fit enough to race later in the week. They have now confirmed his injury is more serious than first thought. |

Anstey lays down a marker as Dunlop has lucky escape
Belfast Telegraph June 09 2015 Bruce Anstey won yesterday's six-lap TT Superbike race, which was red flagged in the closing stages due to an incident involving Michael Dunlop just two miles from the finish line. Despite it being 46-year-old Anstey's first win in the premier class after 19 years of competition at the iconic Manx event, it was Dunlop who continued his domination of this year's TT headlines after limping from the back of an ambulance right in front of the main grandstand before the garlanding ceremony got under way. The 11-time TT winner had been on record pace on the sixth and final lap while vying for a podium place, but Dunlop was involved in an incident with Scott Wilson, who is understood to have suffered a shoulder injury, just a couple of corners from home, forcing a red flag. The Buildbase BMW rider had been in podium contention throughout, but an unfortunate second pit stop cost the Ballymoney man his 12th TT victory. His last-lap effort was undoubtedly a no-holds-barred attack on the outright lap record as he looked for some form of recognition on the opening day. PBM Kawasaki's Ian Hutchinson, who clinched a record breaking five-in-a-week TT clean sweep back in 2010, was quickest out of the traps. But there was more TT heartbreak for Guy Martin, who retired his Tyco BMW at Glenlough just three miles out on the opening lap. Hutchinson led on the opening three laps with two strong 130mph efforts and the quickest lap three following his first pit stop, which left him looking very likely to take a fairytale ninth career victory - having opened up a five-second advantage on his PBM ZX10R Kawasaki. But erring on the side of caution on the fourth lap, due to small showers on the approach to Kirk Michael village, cost him four seconds and ultimately the victory. Hutchy recounted the situation, saying: "Being in sixth gear and flat out on top in the rain, it made me back off. "I haven't raced at that pace for five years around here. Last year I lapped at 127mph, so to come and do 131mph proves the team is well on top of the job and the bike is good enough - so there's more to come from me." Anstey picked up the advantage leaving the pits at the start of lap five on his Padgetts' Honda, and with a final effort of 131.797mph, the bearded Kiwi took his 10th TT win and a new race record for the Superbike class. |
