Most of the calls ask for me by name and I tell then it's a wrong number. Started that about a 3 year ago and I am down to about 1 call every 3 months.

I did that and it helped a lot ....

I still get calls thou ... and when I do I answer the phone like

me: "hello"

them: Is Mr. Kristopher Derentz there?

me: "Who's Calling?"

them: "Im a gay telamarketer trying to waste your time"

me: "Well this is detective Ronald Smith with the FBI, mr Derentz has been murdered .... how do you know the victim?"

at this point they freak out and hang up or you can cont to fuck with them.

Learned this from a prank phone call i heard on the internet ... its a good laugh

I usually just hang up in their face, then keep calling them back and hanging up like 4 times... I never hear from them again

It's worked for me for over a year....the only calls I get are from places I already do business with....like Comcast, and my bank (credit cards).

And even these calls are rare...I don't think I've gotten one in over a month.

I just sit there and let them ramble on. Usually they have a long statement they read through that takes them sometime. And once there done rambling on I just hang up

The Do Not Call list has worked for me.

Before that I used to pretend that I was the electrician or plumber and that the homeowner (me) wasn't in. To this day if someone comes to the door selling shit, I pretend I'm the neighbor watching the dog.

Other times I would just lay the phone down and go back to what I was doing. Eventually you would hear the telephone company's beep beep beep indicating the line was off the hook.

I often go along all the way to the end of their sales pitch to the point where they ask for my credit card number and then tell them I'm not interested and to take me off their list. Evil.

Frigging Bank of America keeps calling our house asking for someone we've never heard of. Sometimes 2, 3 times a day. My wife and I got so sick of telling them Mr. Blank doesn't and has never lived at this number, so the last 2 times it went like this:

"Can I speak to Mr. Blank please?"
"Who's calling?"
"It's Mr. Bank from B of A."
"OK, Mr. Bank, we have told you repeatedly over 10 times that there has never been a Mr. Blank at this number and asked you to take us off your call list, but you're still calling us. So now Mr. Bank from B of A, I am going to make you personally responsible to take action. One more call for Mr. Blank and I will go to the prosecutor's office and file harassment charges against B of A and name YOU, Mr. Bank as the main culprit. I swear to God we will do it. Hello, hello, are you still there?... Hello, B of A???"

The first time the guy hung up on us, the second time, the lady promised to take us off their list. I have her name written down in my reocrd. No more calls since then.

For other calls, I just left the phone on, let them talk to air and walked away... come back in a few minutes and hang up a dead phone.
