Dash Cam recommendations? (I know - not very OT)
Hey there. Thinking of dash cams. Any recommendations? On top of good images, I'm thinking of something that integrates decently, motion sensing (so needs to work when car is not running), as little fuss as possible (kind of like a home surveillance camera - forget it's even there until you need to review something). I live in FL, so it needs to stand up to heat. Thanks friends.

Don't get the $80 Costco one made by Cobra. It claims everything but doesn't live up to anything.
I'm trying to find another one also.

These guys are good. I don't run one myself, but I've got friends who do. Doesn't really go not the dash, instead behind your rearview mirror. Requires tapping into some wires for power, but a shouldn't be more than an hours worth of work/labor.
This one is a solid choice if you driving around during the day: http://thedashcamstore.com/blackvue-...-lens-dashcam/ This one has IR, so better for night: http://thedashcamstore.com/blackvue-...interior-lens/ |

Xiaomi Yi 2.7 Inches 165 Degree 1080P Car-Dash w/WiFi...
I have been eyeing the Xiaomi Yi 2.7 Inches 165 Degree 1080P Car-Dash w/WiFi...
For $75 USd it seems you can not go too wrong with that deal. The only thing I wish it had was a real GPS speed readout on the video and user/menu's in English(Chinese menu only so far). I would also like the camera to come in a black finish... but that can be fixed with a "rattle can" DIY. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Xiaomi-Yi-2-...I9RvM1Cxb1jOIQ PS: this Tech Moan guy reminds me of Wallace from "Wallace & Grommet" films.

BMW Advanced Car Eye seems nice as well albeit a bit higher priced (and not fully made in-house by BMW unfortunately).. But it's front and rear! Only thing I don't find useful on it is that the front one has a screen. It shows the BMW logo on startup but I don't think I'd ever use it! I also like that it has a capacitor built in instead of a battery!
The Mobius is really cheap and small as well and has pretty good video quality it's highly rated. I also like that you can replace the battery with a capacitor for about 8 bucks with minimal work (plug & play really)! |

Bought this one. Very happy so far. Love how I can review it whenever I want to and not have to wait to get home to view it on a computer. Not bad of a price. Considering getting one for the rear also.

I've got a Blackvue 550 with front and rear camera, then a battery backup after reading gixxerboy's review of it...works like a champ, picture quality during SD playback is crisp and has motion detection. I think I paid around $250 for everything after searching on eBay.
