2JZ powered wide body E39 M5 on The Smoking Tire

This BMW E39 M5 has had it's original 5.0L V8 removed, and instead sits a Toyota Supra's 2JZ Inline Six with a monstrous single turbocharger and a manual transmission. This setup is supposedly good for over 1,200 HP, though it is dialed back to 800 hp for road testing on pump gas. This car's owner, Cleve, is one of my favorite guests ever on our show, and this build is insane.

Fun to watch but agree the wide body is not a look I personally subscribe to. Glad the guy enjoys it though. The Rolex was nice looking

For flares that extreme, I think this looks awesome.

There are some horrid wide body kits out there, this is clean and simple.

Love the sound,...and the way it 'bellows',...but can never except any other engine in a BMW except a BMW engine!

As a long-term owner of a stock E39 M5, my heart is saddened whenever the iconic S62 is taken from the beast. That said, the owner bought this car with a 2JZ already installed, and there is no way an S62 can make the power he clearly wants. So good for him and an A for effort and execution!

I was only Irked when he said the car was originally Dinan S2 car, but then said it had the 2jz in it when he bought it.

He mentioned he was planning on running the 1/2 miles drags in GA I.e. Heavens Landing. May have to fly there again to see this thing run, its a pretty neat race despite the fact that the airport is somewhat sketchy to get in and out of.

Yeah, but it would be a money pit; the 2JZ is easy and almost bullet proof; same reason everyone does LS swaps ;-)
