ATVs
I know I could go to ATV forums to ask but will probably get more biased answers. I am considering buying a sport ATV just for fun, and looking at three right now: Yamaha YXZ 1000R SS SE, CanAm Maverick X3 DS and Polaris RZR XP Turbo EPS. Just curious if anyone owns any of these and have feedback on them. Thanks in advance!
I know the Yamaha is down on power, but like that it doesn't have the belt and I like Yamaha reliability. I really like the look of the CanAm the best, has the most travel and clearance and lower center of gravity. The RZR is the OG of the segment and kind of in between the other two. All are around the same price but Yamaha is running 0% interest so I wouldn't need to stroke a check. Plus a dollar is worth less than a current dollar lol. |

I had a 2008 SeaDoo and only sold it because I moved from my home in VA that had a boat launch to NC. I was near a lake but never proved as convenient as I thought so sold it. I never really had problems other than the impeller always seemed to find things to ingest and ruin my day. Otherwise seemed reliable.

I have a 10 year old Yahama Rhino (UTV not ATV) and it's a beast - I barely get to ride it the past few years and will likely sell it soon.... it was fun while it lasted.

My dad has 2 Yamahas up at the cabin. We use them HARD when we are there, then they sit for months. The only issues have been when my brother or cousin rolled them off a cliff. I think we had an issue with a tire once too.
We come up in the dead of winter, uncover them, and it takes one or two pushes to get them to fire. Takes a bit of special attention to keep them fired until they warm up that first time, then we run them day and night until we leave. I'm guessing about 12 years on the clock at this point. One is 2wheel drive, and I think it's a 400cc. The other is 4x, and I think around 550. Power is never an issue, we can have 2 people on the little one, in the snow, pulling the sled with at least one person on it back to the top of the hill. In packed snow, the 2x is WAY more fun to kick out the back end and "drift" around corners, or even just straight down the road. |

I just bought a rzr 1000 last week. I REALLY wanted the CanAm Maverick X3, but its near impossible to get a 4 seater for awhile and for my use with the family the 4 seater makes sense...plus with rebates the rzr is a good buy right now. it just doesn't look like a batmobile like the CanAm

I've always been a fan of Yamaha dependability.
Had a 1985 BW200 I rode REALLLLLLY hard and it was mint to the day I sold in 2014: http://yamaha.itgo.com/ Also drove the piss of out a 2003 Yamaha Kodiak ATV (jumping, power sliding, mudding etc.) and dad still uses it was a plow, stump puller, wagon puller, general round the property vehicle. So yea. |

What do you all think of the General? I've kind of shifted gears and am liking this all-rounder.

Shifting in a UTV is over rated and the Yamaha needs the gears swapped out to be good at trail riding. I have been with Polaris for years and I really like my RZRs. I just got a used Jagged X and I absolutely love this car. Maintenance is key with these machines. If you are not going to do the maintenance yourself, it will cost a bunch more. Quality control on Polaris is not what it used to be and the addition of the CanAm X3 is a good thing, I am hoping it will force Polaris to look at what they are doing wrong. The X3 is nice, but the price...
