Deadly BMW street race

link is to the LA-Times.
Even considering the responders tearing the car apart to retrieve occupants, this vehicle was destroyed.

Awful, I'm sorry for all involved. People have to take this crap to the track, there's just no place for it on public roads.

I enjoy watching Salomondrin and Vehicle Virgins videos, but the video they both released this week pissed me off a ton. Look at the speeds they're going at during their race, that looks like a residential area. Salomondrin is even "racing" with one arm while he films with the other.

Very smart and successful people doing incredibly stupid things, luckily nobody got hurt. They're easily doing 100mph on those roads at some points.

What a couple of douches. We can only hope they kill themselves before they kill any innocent bystanders or passengers.

They probably can't even salvage the window control buttons.

That's an insane crash.

street racing

Driver and all passengers in their early 20's. Does anybody at that age have the common sense to know this is a recipe for disaster? I didn't. I thought I was the next Gilles Villeneuve. I hated it then, but now I am very grateful that my parents never allowed me to have a high performance car. I got into enough trouble, and that was in my '63 Falcon! Very sad!

If I wasn't stuck at work, I think I'd be trying to forward this video to the local DA's office (but have to confess I didn't watch that much of it). How stupid and irresponsible to film yourself committing several dangerous felonies?! Am I wrong, or is this a complete gimme for the prosecutor, since they openly state they are racing for cash, on city streets, and then document felony level speeds? Hey kids - try this at home; you already have the smartphone, now just grab dad's car..... Doesn't help any that I find the Lambo guy to be about the most annoying thing on video.

You can get killed even on the track even if you're a professional driver.

It's also much harder to kill pedestrians and innocent bystanders.

Racetracks don't trees, light poles, oncoming traffic, passengers, pedestrians, cross traffic, and stop lights. Sure racers get killed on tracks, but they usually don't take three innocent passengers along with them.

I'm sure his passengers and their families wish he'd taken it to the track.

Wow, this is so unsafe.

I would not consider either of these two "very smart," but that's just me.

It's much easier to get rich being dumb than getting rich by being smart. Think about it.
