The whole notion of banning rental trucks sounds absurd to me. It's not any sap cannot go and buy a beater pickup truck for $500 and do quite a bit of damage. It's back to blaming the weapon when there is a bigger problem at hand, one that unfortunately can not be solved no matter what side of the political spectrum you are on.

I don't have a problem subverting our sensibilities in this case. Exporting our cultural norms (vs. economic or even arguably, political) is also never consistent, especially when all you hear from the rainbow left is crickets when you bring up child brides, rapes, forced marriages, or the persecution of gays.

If the ROPers want to practice their religion on their turf or in any country charitable enough to accept these practices, then so be it. Exporting their brand of extremism and violence to America in the name of culture is where we need draw the line and if it takes profiling to prevent 8 people from being butchered in the streets of our largest city, I have no problem with that.

As for ignorance, the left isn't stupid, unless you consider willful ignorance or bruised egos a component of ignorance. Their hypocrisy and butthurt is just comical.

Objectively speaking, it's because the left is fine with using government to advance social goals they consider to be valuable. The right is not.

Therefore, healthcare, immigration (and resulting attacks), gun laws, taxes, etc. all fall into one or the other opinion camps.

Social media and 24x7 news coverage have had the effect of broadcasting/analyzing every issue with a bullhorn - and we are becoming more visibly divided.

Note: "right" and "left" are generalized concepts here. Many who are considered, or pretend to be aligned with one group or the other are actually exploiting those groups. Examples include The Clinton's exploiting the left, and corporations exploiting the right.

This issue, among others, should be examined as rational vs. irrational. When innocent people are being slaughtered in our streets, I couldn't give a fuck about some groups emotions or them being encumbered by a fucking background check in order to enter our country.
