E36 M3 CSL vintage Car & Driver review

https://www.caranddriver.com/feature...bmw-m3-feature

282 lbs of weight savings from the base E36 M3. Can we expect a similar weight reduction for the M2 CSL? If so, curb weight will come in at under 3200 lbs. No A/C, radio, and LOTS of sound deadening for starters.

And to give an idea of how much 282 lbs really is....I had a 300 lb colleague riding shotgun in my M2 last week. The car felt substantially more sluggish. I wasn't in the least bit happy with the performance.

"If you are driving on a set of Michelin or BFG summer performance tires, they owe tribute to this M3."

Wow. That is so cool.

It's a good motivator for weight loss to cross-tabulate these - last I heard, hi-po weight reduction was ballparking at about $100/pound - so for every 10# you keep off, you can treat yourself to another 1k in car goodies. The extra lifespan to enjoy the car is just a bonus.

Great car, I remember when it was released. A guy in our local CCA chapter bought one and would autocross it from time to time.
