Why do some BMW paint colors have “II” in the name?
I have seen, for lack of a better word, "variants" of the original color noted on several occasions. However, I never completely understood what they meant.
Take, for example, Frozen Dark Blue II. I mean Frozen Dark Blue is Brozen Dark Blue. Perhaps they are using a different type of paint material? Could anyone elaborate on these paints? |

I think some of these are when there is a change to a paint formulation for some reason, but the color doesn't actually change to the human eye. I have no evidence for that statement, however.

Original Estoril Blue from back in the day had certain ingredients in that are no longer allowed in EU or other production. This EB II ie 2 was born in a more environmentally friendly way...although sadly a softer finish and all cars chip much easier now.
