My theory is get the most practical, utilitarian vehicle possible for the significant other. This enables me to own something completely impractical!

You could lease her a completely loaded out Chrysler Pacifica for $429/month. Just sayin'...

You should check out BMW 340GT, it is more spacious than SUV.

Do they make it with a cloaking device? It's just difficult to look at.

It does! Lincoln is really stepping it up with their new SUVs.

The QX50 has the best engine in that class with the variable compression ratios. Best power and most efficiency I believe.

Best in what sense? Most moving parts? That would be a lease for sure. Can't imagine owning that thing long term.

Is it really providing anything meaningful? It seems like a lot of trouble to get 2mpg more than an X3 30i.

Well it's a definitely an achievement, this technology will trickle to most new engines in the future. It has more power than the X3 and better gas mileage. I do have to say though, the CVT shouldn't have been placed in that car but if the wife doesn't care about that, this is a great car to consider. Here is a recent review by MT:

http://www.motortrend.com/cars/infin...-drive-review/

The X3 is a great option too, I would probably choose that over the QX50 if prices are the same for equally optioned cars but Infiniti usually has better lease deals (way lower MF) so it might be more bang for buck going for the QX50.

I just recall that C&D said it got 1mpg worse than their old one with the VQ.

Hmm interesting. MT got good figures, I doubt it would only be 1mpg better. After owning 3 VQ37 powered cars, that engine isn’t efficient at all. Even the new VR30 3.0TT in our RedSport Q50 is miles better on gas.

QX70 is NICE I have one as a loaner while my Q50 is getting serviced. Limited edion interior is fantastic. Infiniti makes some great SUV and the lease promos are always better than anyone else( Inflated Residuals)

I just helped my daughter purchase a Cayenne Diesel. There are many 1-owner low mile examples available. If you buy from a Porsche dealership, you can get CPO with 6 years/up to unlimited miles and an additional engine & powertrain for 10 years or up to 100k miles. The additional warranty comes from the VW diesel scandal.

https://newsroom.porsche.com/en/comp...ent-14134.html

You can reach out to BMWDavid as he now works at Porsche of Bethseda in Maryland.
