No offense, but I'm assuming your X5M has ridiculously beefy and low profile tires on them, correct?

It's an SUV ... And for snow purposes, you're supposed to put on narrow tires.

(I get that aesthetically, monster truck tires look pretty cool from behind, but man that functionality goes right out the window.)

But at the end of the day, she's got an X5M and I don't, so I can't talk. Haha

buying any new bmw is dumb unless its a limited item like the M2 CS, 1m, m coupe.

thats why you let some sucker take the depreciation first. then pick up one a few years later. e92 M3s are a great buy right now and will likely start going up like the e46.

rock chips? just clear bra your car. never worry about the paint again.

Imagine what the 911 turbo s buyers feel like WHEN volunteer to debadge their cars from factory. just another boxter to the GP. for real 95% of the world just sees BMW, IMO the F8x is so beautifully shaped it could be a nissan for all I care

Never understood this line of thought.

Why wouldn't a person with a 70k car also buy a tune and bolts-ons? If anything the mods relative to the price of the car are a drop in the bucket. They could probably afford it easier.

huh? Where did I say that my wife has an X5M? I said she has an X5 50i with the M Package that makes it have more M Badges than an actual M car.

Well in most places on earth, it only snows for less than half the year, and even then, the days with fresh snow on the road (when narrower tires work better) are probably less than 30 days out of the year.

have you guys not seen the AMG PACKAGE regular c class, or the S-Line A4, that doesn't make them a C63 or S4, those are just appearance packages .. same s*it with MSport it's just an appearance package, it won't have the M4 engine or the suspension or seats or electronics of an actual M car just freaking appearance items like bumper, steering wheel, rims etc
and to the ones who put a tune and outperform an M, go to the track, M is a different animal you can't just unleash all it's potential on the street, it's like buying a civic with NOS it will probably beat any car, but it's just a Honda..

That is very true. I don't live in an area where we get annual snow, but I do go snowboarding quite a bit. And even still, if I see a storm coming, or I know snow would have accumulated on the road, I call my trip off.

You're not wrong exactly, but I disagree with "blow the M away". I had a 2008 135i Cobb Stage 2+ and it was a fantastic little machine. It can't compare to my M4 on the highway though (M4 is stock btw), the little blowers on the N54 just run out of steam at higher speed.

But you're correct about the 135i and its price. If I were forced to get a less expensive car again, I would most certainly be in the market for another 135i. I loved mine, and wouldn't mind getting another and sticking a big menacing FMIC in the front bumper again.

I disagree with the above statement. When you're in the business of building and selling cars, your rate of growth and profit is directly related to your cars! If you're not bringing desirable vehicles to the marketplace, your going to have a difficult time growing and making profits. Profit follows a product's sales success, not the other way around.

Because the mods would put too much stress on the already weak S65 engine (with its rod bearing clearance issues - see link below) and would destroy their engine. Which to replace the S65 engine costs more than an entire 135i! See their over 101 page forum discussion on the topic of which I was unfortunately part of awhile ago....

My comment was more to mess with the M3 owners in fun more than anything else because allot of street punks believe this to be true (hence the little man hiding behind the chair in case people missed that) However, now that I own a 135i ( I used to own a M3) ...I am not sure I do not agree with them to some extent. True it wont blow the M3 away but it can hang with it and for the cost and savings it makes the statement valid in some regards. Plus this is a 1 forum not a M3 forum...I thought.

No you're in the general forums right now.

A tuned 135i is nothing to sneeze at, especially for the cost!!

Here’s the thing...M cars feel special. They don’t feel like a tuned 335i or 540i, which can be fast and loud, but lacking the complete package you get with a true M car. The driver of an M car shouldn’t care if other cars look like theirs. The driver of an M car gets to enjoy just how special their car feels every time they get behind the wheel. Cars are meant to be enjoyed and when you buy an M car you are getting an incredibly well engineered car that will put a smile on your face every time you get behind the wheel.

How does this explain Toyota? Or Hyundai? Neither have built an entertaining car in ages or ever, yet they're certainly not looking for handouts.

The dumbing down of BMW has led to mo' money and won't stop for the few of us remaining enthusiasts' tears. Thankfully plenty of other brands seem to be picking up where BMW, EPS, RFT and the bizarre lack of LSD all intersect.

I love the masochistic ride my M2 provides. You can't get that from a series car. Hell, you can't get that from an M car with adaptive suspension these days.
