The change toward electric vehicles continues. Battery range, reliability and charging infrastructure is at a point where carmakers will accelerate the change to electric, to reap the benefits of reduced vehicle assembly labor content vs IC-engined vehicles.

From the article: (emphasis added):
"By 2025 every other car Porsche sells will have a plug, Zellmer predicted."

That's not all by 2025. That's half by 2025. That's very easily attainable by Porsche, particularly since its biggest sellers are its SUVs and the Panamera, which the Taycan aims to replace directly. All of those are partially VWs/Audis. Neither the 911 nor the 718 is partially a VW/Audi.

Also stated in the article: The 911 will be the last to switch over ...

... but what's conveniently left out is the question of hybridization in the 911 (and, ergo, the 718). That, likely, will be reality by 2025, too. The entire lineup of both might not be hybridized, but I'd bet the majority will be.

Macan and Cayenne are obvious contenders for electric/hybrid drivetrains and I'm sure they will still be amazing as quickly as the tech is advancing, Porsche doesn't screw up many things. I absolutely love the Taycan looks, but I need engine noise so it's not my thing. Maybe I'll come around in a few years. It will be interesting to see how quickly the Taycan depreciates given the massive depreciation on the Panamera.

I mean a 15.5% stake in Rimac, Porsche already has a great head start with that technology from the get go. I wonder if they'll be able to use it for other VAG brands in the future.

But yeah, I do suspect a hybrid four cylinder will make for a fast as snot 719. Maybe every car will have an EA888 before long. I've already got a couple. I realize the 718 doesn't have an EA888, but I bet it easily could, especially now that they've killed off future TT's.

I suspect the ID3 is a more complete basis for things to come than the vaporware Rimac.

That's an interesting scenario.

I would suspect that yes, the basics of the eTron/Taycan are much closer to the ID3 than the Rimac. One is a $2M car with 1940hp from Croatia, the others are all regular production cars from VW.

Rimac might be surprised to know that they're already building cars as a story from yesterday mentions their first car:

Rimac says that the first production version is set to be shown off at Geneva in early 2020, but they really haven't decided on a name yet.

I suppose you meant the 10 total Concept S cars? I suppose that's something, but it doesn't sound like the Concept 2 powertrain is closely related or that Rimac has any intent of making an 11th.

I liked the e hybrid Cayenne but it was too big. They don’t offer an e hybrid Macan so I ended up with a Macan Turbo.
