Protective film on watches

So my dumbass accidentally scratched the clasp on my submariner the first day I got it. Just like how we put PPF on our cars, would you put film on some parts of your watch? I don't like the fact that polishing removes material and i'm not familiar with polishing on ss matte surfaces.

I'm a huge Deep Sea fan. Submariner is a very pretty object.

Don't let scrapes bother you !! This is an instrument you wear on your wrist and it's normal for it to get dented and scratched. Patina is what makes collectable items interesting.

Like the legs on fine wood furniture getting nicked you don't stress over what is normal function.

I couldn't agree with you more. Guess it's more psychological since i'm so OCD about scratches on my car. That same mentality is bleeding over now.

scratches will happen. its just the nature of having something on your wrist. i wear my watches all day, every day doing just about everything.

if they bother you that much, you can get them refinished periodically, but i wouldnt do it everytime you get a scratch.

As soon as I buy a watch one of the first things to do on my list is to remove protective sticky films because they pick up dirt no matter what .Scratches don't bother me at all .
I have not seen or heard anyone applying protective films to overcome scratches .You can try hand polishing using microfiber cloth .

Enjoy it. If you're worried about signs of use, then the object has no longer become something of joy. Use it, enjoy it. A good ad can buff it out, no worries

For me it's just second nature not to bang my watches up. Pretty rare one takes any kind of hit.

I wish my wife felt that way about me and my body.

I daily a Daytona. The bezel is gold and takes a beating. I love wearing it and the scratches add character. It’s a watch and those use marks don’t diminish value very much. It’s either BNIB or pre owned. Enjoy it.
