Hello Everyone,

The plastic trim is slightly bent on my X5. Is there any way to fix it with minimal intervention?

I tied to press it but nothing changed. I was able to slightly bend it to improve the overall look but it's still there. Dealer said they can order a new piece but will have to paint match it. I'm trying not to go that route if I can somehow make the current trim look better.

You could try a heat gun and mold it back slowly.

Yup. I was going to say heat gun too but you’ll have to be careful. Overheat the paint and it will bubble.

Why not just let the dealer order the trim and color match it for you for free if it wasn’t your fault that the trim was bent? They should fix it for you.

Thanks, I am not confident on the color matching part, especially on a brand new car.

If it cans be molded carefully then that will be best.

Brand new cars should be easier to color match compared to older cars, especially if they’re going off of the paint code.

And yes. Do try using a heat gun and see if you can carefully get it back in shape.

A heat gun (properly used) can fix this. Let dealer service department shop foreman look at it or body shop. Someone there knows how to properly use a heat gun on painted plastic.

It's a minor thing to fix for professionals. I prefer the minimal invasive route. Thanks again!
