So, let's say (to keep it simple) you keep your car two years and drive it 5 days per week. To round it, let's say it's 100 weeks. So, every time you don't have to go through the agony and labor of inserting the key fob you just paid $1. It's like having your private toll booth that you have to pay before you can even start your car.
As for the rainy day argument, I can unlock my car before I get to it by pressing the button in my pocket and quickly open the door and get in the car, so I don't see the real gain there. I'm not against CA by any means, just providing a devil's advocate opinion. It's a gimmiky accessory - and I'm all about gimmiky accessories... but let's not pretend it makes the ownership experience all that much different.

Where do you keep your key fob when you go to a restaurant to eat? What about when you go to the public restroom? I think I understand what you are trying to say though. You're saying that since your wallet and key fob are in your hand already, it is no advantage to have CA since all you would have to do is push the button, right? |

and for just a few more dollars you could just hire some guy named Alfred to open and shut the door for you, drive you around, maybe prepare a meal or two, pour your bath water, light your cigar, bring you your slippers etc., etc. etc. |

* I guess it's time for the CA thread again
I regret not getting it every time I walk up to my car with stuff in my hands. bla bla bla I didn't order CA because I forgot. Not because $500 would my any difference to me in the payment, not because I think that it didn't have value. I was too caught up in my color and trim choices when I ordered. Silver, no blue, no SG, no wait that black sure does look nice, no I should stick with siver. No wait, wow that mystic sure does look nice. Green would be different, no siver is great. Aluminum or burl, shit. but burl and terra. hmm no stay with silver and terra. but wait I'm not in production yet, I could still change it. I'm calling my CA now. No wait stay with silver..... I forgot CA, OK ? Just get it so you don't have a big missing hole in your soul like me.

If I need to use the restroom, I'll just hang them from my pocket while I do my business. CA is an option I really thought about and if I didn't have a weird hang-up about "things" in my pockets I would gotten it. |

Consider this...
Everyone who actually has comfort access loves it. Anyone who doesn't like it, are people who felt it wasn't worth getting...no one who actually got it and regretted it. Definitely get it, so much more convenient and futuristic. |

Yes, it's worth it...IMO. It's one of those things like heated seats...once you have it, anything less "isn't as good".

Are you serious? CA = Comfort (Convenience) access option. With the CA option, you don't need to pull your keys out of your pocket/purse. You walk up to the car and pull on the door handle to unlock the door(s). To lock, you simply touch the grooves on the door handle. To drive, simply put your foot on the brake/clutch and push the start button.

would i trust Alfred? my response to that is simply; where would Batman and his faithful ward Robin have been without Alfred? so yes i would, unequivocably! hey look, if the initial cost of $500 plus a couple hundred more to fix it later on is worth it to someone then who am i to say it's not? it certainly was not my intention to give the impression that i am entirely opposed to the conveniences of modern life(i'm not about to toss my washer and bring out the old wash-board and i do like my shrimp deveined at the factory) but everything is relative and i do think that quite frankly we've gone a little soft- can't push a button!! give me a break!! |

can you change the settings for comfort access through iDrive?
for example when u touch the driver's side door handle, all of the doors open instead of just the driver's side door?

I like having comfort access, mainly for the true push button start feature. I admit that 98% of the time, I don't use comfort access to open/lock my doors, but in the 2% of the time that I need it (i.e., when I have things in my hands), it's very handy. Also, if you have a wife that will be driving the car, comfort access is great because she will not need to search through her purse to find her key before opening the door.
