This is concerning about Covid Treatment

Two papers related to COVID-19 appearing in major journals that relied on data from Surgisphere Corp. were retracted on Thursday.

The HCQ study, which made headlines worldwide, found hospitalized COVID-19 patients receiving the drug with or without an antibiotic had increased mortality and higher rates of cardiac arrhythmias. It purportedly analyzed data from around 96,000 patients, 15,000 of whom received HCQ or chloroquine, with or without an antibiotic. Surgisphere was said to have provided the data from 671 hospitals on six continents.

Surgisphere founder Sapan Desai, MD, PhD, was the paper’s fourth author; he did not participate in the retraction request to The Lancet.

The New England Journal's retraction statement was much shorter, and did include Desai in the request.

"Because all the authors were not granted access to the raw data and the raw data could not be made available to a third-party auditor, we are unable to validate the primary data sources underlying our article," Mehra and colleagues wrote. "We therefore request that the article be retracted. We apologize to the editors and to readers of the Journal for the difficulties that this has caused."

Yeah - it was nice how we just disregarded our own experience for a study or two that apparently has no peer review. Even an amateur peer reviewer would know to check the sources first. It wasn't even well disguised as a "leading" global company.

I can tell you that medication does cause those side effects-my wife considered for her R/A-she was told several years ago it might cause heart problems and she has a heart murmur. It can cause serious problems. We decided against it long before COVID-19 became politicized.

There is a difference in something having side effects and causing an increased mortality rate.

Getting a pace maker put in has side effects, but it sure doesn't increase the mortality rate when used to treat heart failure.

BTW - the only outcome of this is that the CDC and WHO and whoever are going to resume the trials they were performing for the drug, it's not like they are jumping right to promoting it.

My post wasn't meant to be political...just to highlight how quickly things seemed to be pushed out before being vetted.

My daughter was warned of side effects when she had to take chloroquine twice for malaria prevention when she went to Africa on two separate occasions working in the Doctors without Borders program.

**Edit** I'm sorry to hear about your wife's condition. My wife suffers from an auto-immune disorder.....so I can relate.

Thanks-i know it wasn't meant to be political. I remain concerned that some will take this medication outside of a doctor's care when they should be monitored.
I have no idea about the efficacy for COVID-19,it seems that it is controversial!
