I would go for the 330d E93, lots of torque that makes it really 'easy' to drive and the vert does need the extra power to compensate for the extra body stiffening.

When you get bored with the power remap it to the same power as the 335D

How much does a Remap cost normally? if i got lets say a 325 or 330d i plan to remap as soon as i have it.

you think the 330d is the best choice? or 325d remapped if remapping is expensive.

It all depends on your budget / preferance. I know DMS / Celtic etc will charge £700+

Other smaller outfits charge half this price.

I opted for a £350 map from SP Tuning (price, track record and location) and it's been great. I didn't get a rolling road test as they came to my place of work and done it so you need to take this into consideration.

Each to their own though

PhilR is right on, the remap costs for the 330D vary from £350 to £1500! and the bhp also changes from the base 231bhp to between 260 and 290bhp with a healthy increase in torque as well.

I would suggest at least a 325 in the E93 as the 320i is not powerfull enough but possible the 320d could be ok it is a good engine.

If you do want the best engine note the 330i is the best but I find the d a little easier to get the best out of

Don't expect the diesel to hold its value better than the petrol in convertible form, just isn't the case.
Audi owners found this out, by the time it gets to 3 years old a lot of people will want the petrol, it is completely different in cab form. No way I would want a diesel cab myself.

Always a good idea to do your homework but make sure you test drive them all with the roof up and down

i mainly want diesel because of the miles i do in a year, and diesel would make it more economical for me, but i will be testing both D's vert and normal and 325d and 330d and see which one i like.

then i have to wait for 6-12month old one and buy it, so its bmw's used cars website for me then.

Actually looks more like 36-38K for an E93, you should get a bit off the online price though the extras will cost you more

You need find a good dealer, if you are buying secondhand you are better dealing direct with them so it is the luck of the draw really.

I haven't had much luck with cash in the past, the dealers are usede to getting extra money out of you (finance, insurance etc) so they are less willing to lower the price of the car by much, I only managed £500 of the second hand price.

Totally agree, I know the old finance manager at Coopers and they would sell cars with not a penny being made on them knowing they could make a good £5-10k out if a midrange model on the finance.

I would not mention you are a cash buyer until the very last minute, cash buyers are least likely to get any discount these days.

I might get "finance" if it lowers the price then hopefully pay if off within 1 or 2 months if that is feasible.

I guess it depends on dealer how much they come down by.

Thanks for all the Advice Guys.
It seems a lot of cars on 2nd hand dont have CA option which is a shame.

The other thing is decide what spec you want and then ring round the dealers, doesn't matter where they are, offer them around 10% below window price and tell them you have 5 cars lined up, say who ever comes back with the best price will get the sale.

One of them will play ball, and dealers will deliver it to you as well, so it doesn't matter where you buy.

I might just go for finance then try and pay it off within a month or two if i have the option, so i can get discount off the car.

Any more advice guys

Be very, very, very careful doing that, you may have a very big shock when you get the settlement figure through!

Loving the tactics. !!!

well i plan to "buy" in July / August unless the "dream" used car comes long sooner so i will be on the lookout and making some enquiry.

i got my testdrive also coming up soon for both 330d and 325d

BMW Finance is easy but expensive, a homeowner loan will take 3 weeks.

Why do you want CA ????
