At 95 in a 45, you could have killed someone. You may have been drunk, high, or leaving the scene of a crime. They responded appropriately, regardless of your race! Very different than someone casually strolling around in their car with a registration that is one digit off. OP, I'm assuming you weren't driving recklessly, correct??
You're looking at this the wrong way. Stolen cars are cold plated all of the time. One digit off could result in no DMW return when we run the plate. No DMV return immediately makes us think it's possibly a stolen vehicle, etc.

Looks legit ?!?
Mine had a missing number and a 5 1/2 peeled off from weathering the first week

It's my work truck, another black crew cab, few months ago I got the spec I wanted from Dealer near Phila PA, we do not use temp tags in Massachusetts so it looks strange here

Plate looked like I drove out of Allepo, never got pulled over by a Statey the whole time June/August

About forty years ago my company leased cars from Hertz. One day a slew of envelopes showed up from PennDot each one containing a plate and registration card. Reading between the lines in the enclosed letter the prison license plate shop foreman screwed up and multiple plates were made repeating the same number sequence. We were instructed to put on the replacement plate and return the one removed in the enclosed prepaid envelope.
