I've found that eating large meals with wine/beer/etc. will greatly increase the likelihood of heartburn at night. If you eat moderate-sized meals and don't drink an entire bottle, you should be good to go. If not, definitely see your GP.

Had the same issue for years. Started vegan diet 8 months ago and no more heartburn/acid reflux (and bloating). Still a heavy coffee and wine drinker, I don't use acid reducer. Not sure it necessarily correlates to meat but for sure dairy products in my case.

Not to be the doom and gloom type.. but as someone who recently lost a father to esophageal cancer please take care of what causes your reflux.
There are so many things that cause it and no one diet will work for everyone. But doing a few things can greatly reduce it: 1) Try an over the counter - Omeraprozal worked well for me while I was correcting my diet/portions 2) Portion, portion, portion - I found portion control to be more of an issue than what I was actually eating 3) Avoid lying down or being active soon after meals 4) Diet - Reduce the acid causing food consumption. This won't be the same for everyone but obviously drinking a pint of hot sauce before bed is bad for everyone 5) Exercise Obviously these have other benefits as well. I would also recommend to have an endoscopy done. If you have reflux your doctor should be able to order one. If they don't-find another doctor. |

If you are still having some reflux at all a week and a half later it isn’t all due to the wine. It sounds like wine certainly is a trigger that makes it worse, but it shouldn’t really be causing reflux days later, much less a week and a half later. Not something to panic over, but definitely worth a discussion with your doctor and probably a GI visit.

Not like he lost and eye or a leg, it's wine. Huge number of people have to give up food items they like but their body can't take.
