I don't have an OLED tv yet, but I think your best bang for your buck would be to get a higher end LED tv at that size. Sports isn't about super intense resolution or blacks. It's about crisp picture without motion blur. Look towards Sony or Samsung's top of the line LED tvs. Full array would be ideal.

I am serious when I say that my 1080P DLP provides a much more realistic picture (especially for sports) than all my 4K LED TV. Not as sharp as 4K, but way more natural. I've owned 4 of these...only one of them is still working. I'm keeping it as long as possible. The new stuff simply isn't the same. Kind of like 6-spd manual vs DCT. Some of the "kids" here may not even know what DLP is (or even 6-spd manuals LOL).

FWIW the current LG OLEDs are just about all on sale... the 65 CX model is now 1899... i would scoop one up in minutes if I had the need right now.

Not being able to see the screen while you're grabbing a beer is kinda like not being able to drink beer while you're looking at the screen, if you think about it.

Another reason why Plasma shits all over LED, viewing angle.
To me, there is a giant gap in the market for plasma. LED is great for cheap and nasty, OLED and QLED great for high end but Plasma would fill that middle ground. Thing is most people have NFI what a decent image looks like and just go off price and size. |

Don't neglect to consider ultra-short-throw projectors. They're the "next big thing" in home AV. They're rapidly getting more affordable. I'm considering one for my man-cave at the cabin, since it's in a pole barn that's not always heated and sometimes sees -30F; putting any TV in there would be pretty much like pitching it off Niagra Falls.

My LED TVs are set up correctly. It has to do with fundamental differences in technology. DLP are thousands and thousands of mirrors of light. LED are light diodes. |

I did consider the projectors but was told that the sharpness, etc. still doesn't really compare to that of a TV from many angles.

I’m happy with the 65” LG CX Series OLED I bought a couple of months ago when my plasma died. It is now priced $400 less than I paid...
I have an Apple TV 4K and older DirecTV DVR (about to be cancelled) passing through a Denon receiver that can upscale to 4K UHD. Everything looks great, but I will say the programming in actual 4K (some stuff on Netflix for example) is noticeably better. So the other thing to bear in mind is your source and how you will connect it. There are some streaming services that do not stream in 4K (YouTube TV for example). The other thing I had to adjust was a setting related to motion. Im not home now and can’t remember exactly what I did but the motion was bothersome to me but is perfect after adjusting. So again the point is that you may need to make some adjustments to suit your preferences. I also have a low-end 55” Samsung LCD in our vacation condo. Not surprisingly, the far more expensive OLED has a noticeably superior picture, although the LED isn’t bad for $300 A friend of mine mentioned a newer brand called TCL that uses mini-LED technology. I didn’t spend a lot of time researching it because I needed a TV quickly, but some of the reviews I read made me think it was a promising technology but manufacturing quality was not up to par with others. Perhaps an expert like Dog Face Pony Soldier will stop in and offer more constructive advice.
