Looking for a stablemate - '78-'89 911 Coupe
Looking for a stablemate for my F80.
I know many people here are also Porsche fans. Looking to buy my very first Porsche. Looking for a well maintained 1978-83 911 SC Coupe or 1984-88 911 Carrera coupe. Looking for a driver not necessarily a concours show car. Drop me a line if you have what I'm looking for. I'm in no rush, just looking to find the right one. Guards Red, Cassis Red, White, Silver, I'm not too picky on the color, just not brown. Thanks, Matt |

Thank you. I'm on those sites daily
I just wanted to put a feeler out there & reach out to the Bimmerpost community if they are contemplating selling their old G-body 911 instead of having to deal with a full on bidding war on BaT, etc. I hate the idea of the clock ticking rushing to schedule a PPI, or them not willing to schedule a PPI, etc etc. Call me old school, but I'd rather make a personal connection with the seller and not feel so rushed. Thanks, Matt |

First, whomever u choose to inspect the car has to be Porsche. Join Porsche club of America ! Do u know about Fuchs wheels ? Knowing the build sheet for your individual car and if it came with Fuch’s wheels and if these wheels were exchanged out for replicas or whatever is good to know. Rust ! Around fuel door? Under battery tray ! The nice thing about air cooled 911’s is the lack of corrosion from antifreeze. Antifreeze is a good way to circulate a hot medium in front of fans to blow warmth into the cabin. Volkswagen beetles like air cooled 911’s use metal boxes near the exhaust to capture warm air and use open cavity’s that run along sill to the front bulkhead to deliver warm air to the cabin. So you need to make sure the control in the cabin ( and the design is different between the 1970’s and 1980’s models you mention) need to make sure heat is being delivered to the vents. Once up on a lift a person familiar can use tapping and visual to assess the heat exchanger all the way along the sills to find damaged heating parts. You can check online for details and replacement part prices. This is good advice. Due to the popularity of classic Porsches, there's a lot of "lipstick on a pig" out there. You will likely go through quite a few disappointments before finding a model that is absolutely perfect for you. But don't be fooled because it looks good in picture. Watch for poor resprays, poor bodywork, rust, etc. Lift up the carpets and see what's all lurking underneath.
