Hi guys
I'm in Italy, and don't know any good site where to buy custom parts, cause I would like to
-upgrade CarPlay display
-mount m-sport steering wheel
-upgrade my gauge claster to digital,
-mount the ambient light,

-logo projectors for doors and

I admit that X1 is probably still the best car to drive in this class.

I'am just disappointed that BMW abandoned RWD, which would have been a unique selling proposal. Their switch to FWD will have reduced the production cost significantly, but just like Audi, they use it to increase their profitability, not to drop the prices.

I hope in the new generation X1 there will be a version similar to the M235i x2 xDrive. And it will be great!!!

I agree. My X1 is still a little five years old, no problems. I'm very satisfied. I'm waiting for the next generation.

Why do you insist on RWD so much, and how is it a unique selling point? For a sporty car I would agree, but how does it matter in an SUV? I don't think many of the customers in this segment care about this, even for the X3 and X5, especially when most people buy xDrive anyways.

FWD is invented to assemble cars way cheaper. Else, it would probably never have existed. An extra benefit is that the engine/drive line is compacter leaving more space for the interiour.

But... you ask the front wheels to change direction and to accelerate the and the weight transfer is wrong, adding to the problem of over stressed front axle. When you want to contain excessive understeer, you need limited slip dif. which worsens the weight balance and is difficult to execute properly without jeopardising traject precision. Also, engine is transversal, typical not what you want when you change direction, you'd want it centered like in a longitudinal mount. You could mask some of these issues with AWD, making it more expensive than RWD and heavier.

Is this only sensible in sports cars? I don't think so, when i drive a Clio with 100hp, I feel all of the above.

I don't invent these arguments, BMW has been force feeding it to his customers for decades, and then they started with FWD.

On the track AWD it will be more stable and confident, especially in turns.

My last real FWD experience dates from 2005 when I got Audi A4 loaner for half a year. At almost every T-junction, the car had difficulties to find grip with more torque steer and understeer as a consequence. It drove me nuts. I understand technology improved and effects are less intrusive since.

& Indeed AWD solves these issues (at an extra cost).

Interesting that the 2Active Tourer reveal shows how the new wheel and interior might be. Note on the 2AT the iDrive wheel is NO MORE!

I'm liking how this X1 is generally shaping up though.

EDIT: Just my personal opinion but I wonder if they X2 will have an update or be dropped. This X2 roofline looks to swoop a fair bit at the rear already, can't see how a separate model being only slightly more swoopy like is worth it. This X2 now feels like both combined and its a step up to the X3 for a larger cargo rear box SUV shape. ?
