my dad worked at hospital and a few patients would ask about what they saw on TV. He said that it was just a little fluffy (TV ads) to justify Rx cost. He said some drug company reps should be in prison for bribery along with a few doctors that would prescribe drugs that didn't treat shit or just plain over priced - reformulated version of basic edition that worked.. The drug companies would punish reps that didn't push certain ones... 30-40% of US medical costs are fluff.. f-kin scam

I thought that you might reply with some kind-hearted, neutral stanced goodness; and you never disappoint good sir. I have thought about peeking inside the F1 section. I'm so far removed from F1 that I don't even know who is driving anymore. Was a big fan in my younger years. Grew up watching Schumacher, Mansel, Senna, etc. and wanting to be a driver. I wish I had the time to watch races now.

I too haven't watched F1 in years as I lost interest. I was a fan of Juan Pablo Montoya when I owned my first BMW (e46 M3) at the time.

MKSixer , maybe you actually explained something to me. How can a side effect of medications for <insert random diabetes symptom> cause respiratory infection??? SOMEBODY got it during the trial

I swear I heard/read somewhere a long time ago that part of the drug companies responsibility to bring a drug to market is that they are required to make known publicly the side effects of it.

So the commercials are more are requirement of being allowed to sell the drug, rather than trying to convince people they need a drug.

At least that's my understanding why the drug companies are even willing to produce a commercial that's full of happy people while talking all the horrible side effects. They have to, in order to sell it.

But my memory is foggy, I can't remember what I had for breakfast. Maybe I should take something for that… /s

I don't often rant, but when I do, its about f-you-sea-K-ing Big Pharma, their TV ads, and their deplorable if not criminal business practices.

But I always do it from a level-headed, fact-based point of view. Just because I'm ranting, doesn't mean I'm not correct.

I think the layman underestimates the value of Corporate or Image Marketing. Even if you don't want this drug, maybe you will pick their other product from the store shelf. The message is, "This is a good company".

Also, if any of you watch the Sunday morning news shows like many of the more wealthy folks do, the 'buy our stock' angle might be more obvious. I don't think this is a small factor.

Not me personally, it was always just strange to hear that something for a totally unrelated condition had URI as a side effect

Why never any mention of getting drunk as a side effect???
