quick question: Tire Choice
I have 230i on order w/M Sports & 19" M797 wheels
My order currently is all season run-flats same as the base M240 comes with. Now I am thinking since I live in S. Carolina in warm climate the Performance non-run flat tires may be a better choice. All-season tires in North are needed to drive in colder temps (forget snow) in Winter if you don't want to switch to winter tires which I used to do in NJ. So i would think handling & overall fun factor will be better w/Performance tires? Also, think these tires will be Pirelli or Michelin?? hmmm thanks...

IMO, all-seasons are less for rain, and totally for snow. I'm in Virginia and I always get summer tires. All seasons kill performance all year for what little snow may or may not come where I live.
You're in SC, get the summer tread. I believe they're installing Michelin PS4...a great summer tire. With the M Sport Pkg, I don't thing run flats are available. |

thanks Dinosoar; but my 230i Order w/the M Sports I chose 19" 797M wheels w/all-season run-flats, same tire that is on the base M240i.
I sent email to my dealer rep to change my build if he can to the 19" non run-flat performance tires that are staggered.. update: successful change was made to the 19" Performance tires.. non-run flat also!!! yeah

Recent all seasons, are not bad at all under all conditions but never stellar either. On the other hand, when you can go for a summer performance tire, I'd assume that those recent Michelins, Pirellis and Contis are beyond believe! The M3 RWD performance on Michelins I drove a month back really astonished me!
I have early experience on runflats and on my e90 it was really pure trash. On my e91 it was already vastly improved. But afterall, it's still a compromise that deminishes the dynamic (and comfort) capabilities in favor of being able "to run flat". On a M240i, I'd go for the non run flats and premium summer tires. The car is probably worth it! |

I did KoenG... Dealer Manager changed my build order late today to the 19" Performance tires non-run flat. 225/40 upfront and 255/35 in the rear. Should look & drive sharp

Anyone know if the wheels are staggered as well with the non run flats? The standard specifications with the run flats list 19x8 inch wheels front and rear with 225/40 square tire setup. So the question is are the 255/35 non run flats mounted on the same 19x8 wheels or are we getting wider rear wheels with that combo?
The M240i is going to be my wife’s car and she want all seasons but I don’t like the idea of 225s in the rear, looks awkward and dry traction must be compromised on such a relatively skinny tire with almost 400 hp/TQ on tap. If the 8 inch wheels are fine for the 255s non run flats I plan to swap to 255s all seasons in the rear on my own dime after delivery. The recommended max width for an 8inch rim is around 245 so I’m guessing the non run flat combo has staggered wheels. If so, I’ll order the non run flats and swap to all seasons in the same dimension as the non run flats. Last edited by solstice; 09-28-2021 at 11:56 AM.. |

hmmm... only a 8.0" 797M wheel for the 255/35/19 tire could be mistake in ordering guide.
All the other 255 series tires w/other wheels have 8.5" wheels

It would be really good to know if it’s a typo and the M240i really come with staggered wheels for the M797 with the performance tires combo. |

I noticed a clear error in the order guide for the M797s with performance tires so it’s likely the rear wheel size is wrong as well and that the real size is 19x8.5 and not the stated 19x8.
Check the tire diameter from the order guide, will need some lube to fit that over the wheel… Front: 19x8.0, 225/40 R18 Rear: 19x8.0, 255/35 R18 |

I’ll be ordering the performance tires to get the wider rear wheels and ask tire rack to deliver Michelin Pilot Sport all seasons in the same size as the perf. tires to the dealer in time for taking delivery and then have them swap tires and save the performance tires for when we sell the car.

On a US Spec Car to get the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S I suspect you need an M240i with ZTK.

post pictures of 893m wheels
Have you gotten your car, I am ordering ZTK and would like to see what the wheels look like, no production number yet? Please post here, take a couple angle pics, the style 893m comes with ZTK and should provide the best look than square all around
