Great Deal on Nikon D60 Combo!
Hey there. I found a really great deal on a Nikon D60 combo with the kit 18-55 VR as well as a 55-200 VR. I have a D40 and it produces wonderful pictures and I'm sure the D60 with image stabilized lenses such as these could only do better. $776 with free shipping and no sales tax! (if you don't live in NY!) It's from one of the most well-respected camera dealers too. Nikon has a 5 year warranty on lenses when you purchase them from authorized dealers, so this is a plus for this deal.
Here's the link: http://www.adorama.com/INKD60K2.html...d60&item_no=15 Hope this helps someone! -Bobby UPDATE: It looks like the price is now $799. Thats still a great deal! I also noticed that you can get a free Epson R280 photo printer after rebate with the purchase of this. UPDATE: I just found the D40 with the 55-200 VR lens combo for $597! Great deal too! http://www.adorama.com/INKD40K2A.htm...d40&item_no=33

Yes, this would be a great combo for a beginner. Some will tell you that the lenses are bad, but that is because many are comparing them to thousand dollar lenses. I have the non-image stabilized 18-55 with my D40 and find it to be excellent. If I did not have an SLR right now, I would jump on that D60.

That's a REALLY good deal, especially coming from a retailer like Adorama - very trustworthy.

I would look at Nikon D80 too. The body can be had now for around $700. It's older than D60, but has better autofocus, in-body AF motor, and more control options than D60. Ergonomics is better too. I played with a D60 for a week, then returned it and got a D80. It just feels better IMO and is more convenient to work with. IQ is essentially the same, especially if shot in RAW.

I have a D60 - FWIW, while the D80 is a very strong camera, and a better camera, the IQ is not the same. The D60 borrows some of the logic from the D300, which has a new processing IQ than the D80.
