I will upgrade to the JB4 to take advantage of the E85 map. But other than that the Race Chip has been great.

I dont see why you cant just add e85 to race chip car. Stock torque limits are in place.

RaceChip doesn't have CANbus or EWG control so it's like running a JB4 with only 2 out of its 5 connection points attached. I get why someone might buy RaceChip for their Honda Civic or Kia but will never understand why someone with a $80k car would purchase one.

Jb4 maps Map 1: Default performance map, 3psi peak request over stock (suitable for all 91+ RM2 fuels) Map 2: 4psi peak request over stock (91 -93 suggested) Map 3: 22psi absolute boost target (93 - E30 suggested) Map 4: 23psi absolute boost target (E30-E40 suggested) Map 5: 25psi absolute boost target (E30-E40 suggested) the jb4 will allow you to get a few more psi when you have E85 Quote:

Since your boost is the same so you are leaving power on the table

The best bang for the buck after you are flirting with torque limits is higher octane unless you have a flash. My friend has a stock g82 and added e25 blend he said it feels tuned

The race chip is fun in the street, but its put me in limp mode 3x on track for hitting tq limit.
Guys in Germany tell me to dial back to map 6 since the car is hitting tq limit. Without addressing tq limits its kinda moot. With 250 track miles a month on my car I am wary of finding the weak link in the chain. Ill let someone else run a russian ecu on track for a year before I go full tune. By then I should be a decent driver in the car.

I said i recommend the JB4 if you are using E85 to take advantage of the extra power. You disagreed and then went on about stock car + e85 and throttle closure. I don't disagree with anything you said, but it has nothing to do with my statement. the Jb4 takes advantage of the higher E85 octane and adds boost and make more power than on 91 / 93 octane ( a lot more power than your friend with his stock map and E85 fuel) Are you saying that the statement in bold is wrong and the jb4 does not make more power with E85 than your friend's stock + e85? Here is a dyno with Jb4 and E85, please have your friend post a dyno of his stock car with E85

When you add more octane, there is room for higher timing and more power. You said you have logs showing the ECU does this automatically, and I won't argue with the data. What I'm saying has nothing to do with timing. With E85, the Jb4 can push more boost and make more power. The two statements are not mutually exclusive.
In summary, I do not disagree with anything you said, and what you said does not contradict my post about the Jb4 and E85

Interesting thread. How much E-85 can you add to a stock engine running on 91 octane to get a performance increase that's noticeable? And, is there 'too much'?

Which I think means that if you want 25% in your tank, you would have to have 12.5gal of 91oct (w/ e10) and then fill it up with e85 (no more than 3.1 gal). Then again, last time I did algebra was in high school
