Good point - and that makes it a lot less convenient. If the fob is in my pocket anyway i just have to pull the handle. I guess it would be useful in case of emergency/loosing a kay, and maybe if you are driving to some place for a run/exercise where you dont want to have to carry a key and have no bag/locker to leave it.

Can't seem to find the option on my S21 Ultra. Not sure if it's because of mine being a 2019 build or if it's because I'm on version 07/2020. Checked the My BMW app version and it's update to date.

I had this functionality before with my S8+ at the time, my S10+ said not supported so it would be cool if I can use it again this time with my S21 Ultra.

Plus, as far as I've seen the digital key doesn't work very well
What have you "seen"? :

Mine works 100% of the time for unlocking and driving whenever I use it and I feel comfortable leaving my key in the house if I'm too lazy to go back in the house to get my key…even to run a errands with lots of stops.

I'll admit it's not as convenient as just walking near my car with my key and it just unlocking, but my phone always works as designed.

It's useless if the phone doesn't even fit in the charger tray

Your phone doesn't have to fit flush in the tray for it to start. It'll start if you just hold it near the tray.

Has anyone here had any first hand experience?
The functionality seem to have been available for a while according to these documents:

Digital key worked 2 years ago on android in the old bmw connected app on my S10
My license expired eight months ago. It was imposible to renew the license in the app. That time it started to work on Iphone. Something to do with the nfc version I read somewhere.

I'm glad it will be back. But I'm still using that samsung S10. So can't use it, I don't see it yet in the app.
