The trick is to get the right rep on the phone when you want to negotiate. Sometimes the person on their end won't give you the right answers.

Hang up and call back and try the lottery again. What you want is to jump on one of their "come back" offers after your free year expires. Once you get 12 months for $6 / month (or lower) you want to wait until the very first month after your offer expires (i.e. the 13th month) and insist you want to cancel. If you get the right rep, they will put you back on the 12 months for $6 / month rate.

If you wait until they bill that full fare 13th month, they will immediately rebate the balance of that 13th month and you're back to $6 / month immediately. Again, bitch or threaten to canel until they give you this.

Rinse, repeat, enjoy...
