2022 MX1 Enthusiast Weekend, Greer, SC
Anyone else headed to MX1 this year? Only a week away!
I'm leading the DC area caravan down to Greer, and we have several other caravans coming in from different parts of the country, starting from Chicago, and Central FL. We'll finish up a fun day of driving at the Zentrum for a big group photo. This year includes a ton of events to fill your weekend: * M Schools and other BMW Performance Center events (all sold out) * Several driving and factory tours * BMWNA test drives * HUGE Caffeine & Gasoline event at the BMW CCA headquarters * IMSA watch party/BBQ for the Long Beach GP (Go RLL & Turner!) Hope to see you all there! https://mx1.bmwcca.org/

Hey Pete! Just got home about 20 minutes ago. Part didn't arrive in Knoxville until mid-morning on Tuesday. Repair was done in about 30 minutes. Trip home was uneventful and smooth!

My 2020, X6 M50i had a "Drivetrain Malfunction" and went into "limp mode" about 35 miles North of Knoxville, TN while we were caravanning from Chicago to Greer, SC. We pulled off, I turned it off and it reset, so we gave it another go. Made it maybe 10 miles and the same thing happened. (I'd feel a bit of a jolt and it would then give the "chime of death", which is unfortunately the same chime as you get when hitting 37 degrees, F, and it went into limp mode.) So, called Roadside and they suggest I run it through a sleep cycle once and go on and see if we could get it to a BMW dealer that was in Knoxville, about 22 miles away, at that point. One of the guys (HUGE shout out to Matt!) followed me, I babied it along and I just went into limp mode again about 3 blocks from the dealership. (This was all on Thursday, 4/7)
They diagnosed it quickly the next morning (4/8) and said it was a failed Crankshaft Position Sensor (13-62-8-623-437) and put it on order. All good, except the part didn't come in until Tuesday (4/12)...They replaced it and all seemed good over my 850 mile drive back yesterday.
