Ceramic Detailing After 4 Months

So I picked my 22 X5 x40i Carbon Black at the end of February with the Performance Center Delivery in SC. I have been waiting to do a full ceramic coating for a while. Basically, I wanted to make sure there was enough time and washings to take off any PCD products. Plus haven't had a lot of time lately.

I did a full ceramic coating of my 2017 430 X Convertible in March so I had one previous attempt at the process. It turned out pretty good and would give myself a B+ on the results. Mostly because it was a five-year-old car it took a lot of time fixing paint chips, bugs and tar. I was a little nervous the first time.

I have been following Pan the Organizer on YouTube and used one of his videos as my roadmap to detail and then ceramic my cars. I also used several others of his and others for my details and to get the products I liked.

For the X5 this week I washed it yesterday and then started on detailing today. First got rid of the bugs, then washed it again. Next I used a clay mitt and took out anything that I didn’t get with the washes. I didn’t bother with the iron removal, I figured it was too new to get any real amount of deposits with only 5,000 miles. Next I did a fine polish with Chemical Guys BUF_503X TORQX and a black fine polish pad. Then went on to a surface prep application before starting the ceramic coat. I did two coats of CARPRO CQUARTZ UK 3.0 and CARPRO Reload Spray Sealant.

A lot easier the second time, but still it took me about eight hours. I’m very happy with the results and would give myself an A- this time.
